Hello,

My spouse just recvd EAD card with advanced parole.  We are looking to travel back VN this October, but afraid there might be complications returning to US.

Has anyone traveled outside of US with Advanced Parole and experienced problems coming back to US?  Please share your experience.

Thanks.

Advance Parole was created to be used.  Many, many people enter the US every day using Advance Parole. Don't worry needlessly.  Enjoy your trip.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Use it and enjoy it.

One thing. Be aware that when your spouse return, he or she may be send to secondary inspection (at POE). I don't know if this happens in 100% cases but I know it's usual procedure. That least that is what happened to me when I returned the US in 2012 with my EAD-AP combo card (after being in my home country for 2 months visiting family).

The customs officer informed me that he would have to send me to secondary  room for inspection since I was traveling on AP. Then the lady officer in the sec room had me waiting for 2 hours questioning all my trip. Just telling you my experience. But at the end she let me in. Not necessarily this will be your case. But do not freak out if the do send your spouse to sec room to be admitted again. They sometimes do that.

Thanks everyone, this makes me feel better about traveling abroad. The USCIS docs kept saying the combo card doesn’t guarantee re-entry to US. Which made me worried, since I understood that to be the purpose of this “Advanced Parole” to begin with. 🤦‍♀️.

No one, other than US citizens are guaranteed entry into the US.
