That probably doesn't even come close to the ones who have a fake identity, have fake addresses (so the bills from the hospital never show up after they have made the anchor babies) and get all the SNAP, WIC, and all the other goodies. Down in The Valley area of Texas, they don't even ask any questions, just sign them up, and the money starts rolling in, and meanwhile, they are making tax free income at some bar or construction site, or even set up a taco stand.

Source? Me, lived down there and have seen it in person. Rio Grande Valley has very few legal immigrants. An occasional Korean and some misplaced Eastern Europeans.

And you determined they were immigrants it undocumented how?

I guess unless I read the CIS study on my own I won't get an answer. My opinion and your opinion on what is welfare was not included in the study so it really does not matter.

My parents accept SS and Medicare, I accepted VA benefits and went to a higher ed institution that subsidized the training, my brother used unemployment for 6weeks 4years ago.

So I guess you can say that my family members are welfare bums.

Your parents and their employers paid for the benefit of ss and medicare, your va benefits were s perk for youe military service. In both cases the government profited from your entitlements not welfare. If you consider ss benefits that were paid for and va educational benefits as welfare, feel free to consider yourself a welfare bum. I would consider you a citizen being reimbursed for your military service and your parents being paid througj an annuity they paid for

As would I. ( I would not consider VA benefits a perk but a promise kept). The reality is though these are programs supporting the social welfare. I did get my answer though ny reading the study. That said I am skeptical about the methods of the study. I don't believe that 53% of Native born American families are on "Welfare"

Lol dont discuss the studies methodology you will get taunted, trust me.

Personally i believe that all immigrants should be held to the same standard as legal immigrants, someone picks up the financial responsibility for the immigrant, not the US taxpayer and those that support illegal immigration should be at the head of the line to accept that responsibilty

Los Angeles County doesn't even care if someone is illegal or not, but they do give more benefits to illegals than citizens or green card holders

The article does not provide a crisp definition of "welfare".  I wonder if the CIS study links income tax equalization as welfare.

Also some programs come with dividends for society at a minimum cost to the taxpayer. Fir example free and reduced lunches.

Free lunches are a big fraud ridden gumberment boondoggle

As do I but even then I do feel bad for receiving my VA compensation pay every month... I would much rather have not to deal with my injuries I received while in the Marines.

After living in California and having to deal with the BS that comes along with living there as a White guy that is able to support my family financially. I can honestly tell you how hard it is and angry I get how people my age that can't speak ANY English are using food stamps all the while my Legal wife and I are having to count our pennies with no assistance and 4 kids.

I don't share you sentiments on what is going on in California but I understand your frustrations.

To the first point you made. I would never feel bad personally about the benefits you receive from your government, your employer, your community or even the free blooming onion on veterans day @outback steakhouse.

The country owes you that and more and they are there for a purpose. The unemployment rate for returning veterans  is 56% higher than the public at large.

I am sorry about your injuries, I hope the help you are getting addressed the needs of you and your family.

You don't share my sentiments because you are not in my shoes and have not seen what I have seen in California and Los Angeles in particular. Where even my wife who is the GCH has commented on how lopsided it is and geared to help illegals get benefits, all the while leaving out actual Legal Immigrants and USCs.

My injuries have been addressed because I forced myself to go to the VA to get them looked at and assessed because I am a 34 year old husband/father with 4 kids. Also you know the VA system if you wait out your issues then later on down the line they will just be like "Why didn't you come to us sooner for these issues". So that is why I originally went in to the VA in 2013, and thankfully all of my concerns were addressed overtime.

I know you are new here and I haven't posted as much as I usually do because of the holidays but I already have a job, actually I have a really good job that I moved from CA to NC for back in December. So I am doing good right now overall.

Yeah damn VA medical, they do awesome research and provide a critical stop gap, but dealing with the hoops you have to jump through.

I didn't have any preconceived idea about your work status, I was just dealing with the general perception with some Vets that accepting benefits is accepting Charity.
