Hello All,

i apologize for for any confusion about where to put this post or whether these questions have already been asked. I looked and couldn’t find what I was looking for.

We submitted our I-751 package in December 2017 to the Vermont service center (we are based in CT) and we have also already successfully completed our second biometrics appointment at a field office.I looked up our case recently on the uscis website to see if any status has changed and it simply says:

”we have received your package in April 2018 at your local office.”

What is my local office? Are they referring to a field office in my state or the service center in Vermont?

Why do they say the package was received in April 2018 when they got in it December? We have full documentation and receipts from them showing that we sent everything to them at the proper time. Maybe th case is moving along hopefully toward the finish line at a field office or something?

Thank you you for any responses!

I'm a CT resident and a September filer. My case also tells me that it's transferred to local office since April 2018. My take is that it is Hartford CT field office. But since it is just a online status I m not too sure if it is too accurate. Because I have not received any paperwork notification. I hope it helps .

Local office is the USCIS field office covering your location of residency. Service centers don't care where you live as there is no interview involved at them, so no need for them to be local.

I am assuming when you filed your I-751 went to Vermont and was received around December. So your case stayed for 4 months were it was filed. Now, your case was sent to your local USCIS office or field office in which was received on April 2018. This might be the same office you took your bio-metrics. This means your case is moving forward.

”we have received your package in April 2018 at your local office.”

I got that update at the end of Feb and in March I got an RFE. I have heard that that message can also mean that they are working on it but it still is in the same building  (VSC).  Mine never transferred to my local office. But who knows maybe yours did.   I got approved in April 2018, got a letter from VSC. But so far haven't received my Green card lol. It's a mess.
