The respond for I-485 RFE was lost by usps

Hello there! 

On 21 of May I was issued a RFE and it was stayed that we have 87 days to reply back. We sent back the evidence on 26 of June, but the letter was lost. I communicate with USPS and  hope to get my letter back, but so far there's no progress. I requested the duplicate of notice from USCIS, and it was stayed that I should get reply by 27th of July. But as I counted my deadline for sending evidence is 15th of August, so I do freak out that we do not have enough time now. 

So, I need some third opinion*) I think to prepare paper work again and write a cover letter with explanation about what has happened, add NOA for I-485 and print a photo of the first page of RFE(unfortunately have just this one) and send it now. Or should I better wait for reply from USCIS?

I would send another reply with the evidence asap.

Well you still have time between July 27th and August 15th. I would wait until July 27th to see if you get the RFIE copy. If not, then just send your papers with an overnight service to make sure it gets there. I would include a sentence in your cover letter saying that USPS lost your original response and has not been able to locate it so that is why you are sending a second response.

 

There's also nothing wrong with sending it again right now though. At least this way, you can get it over with. Write a very detailed cover letter explaining your situation and use UPS. They're very reliable.

 

Also, next time, make photocopies of every single piece of paper you get from USCIS to keep for your records. You never know when you might need to look for something in the future.

Well, yeah, my mistake that I didn't take copies=/ I still hope that USPS will be able to locate it, though.
