Hi guys,

I’ve done some searching on here and I have found threads very similar to mine, however they’re years old, so I wanted to see if anyone might know the answer to my question as they did the same thing recently.

My husband (USC) is Permenantly Retired from the USAF and receives Disability and retirement every month, and will continue to do so for the rest of his life. He received his tax transcripts in preparation for NVC and AOS, as his disability is non-taxable it doesn’t show that income on his W2 or transcript for the past tax year. How do we prove this income to immigration? He exceeds the 125% poverty guideline. He has a letter from the VA showing his disability rating and monthly payment amount, is this sufficient? Is there anything else we can do to show proof of that income? The other option is finding a co-sponsor, but we would like to avoid that if not needed.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I will tell you what worked for us, along with the letter of disability rating and payment amount also on eBenefits website I printed about two years worth of payments the VA sent me, and contacted my bank had them send a printout of all the deposits made from the VA to my account up to the current month, that was sufficient enough evidence for them at our interview.

Great, thank you for that! What did you do for I-864 and NVC stage? Did you send/submit all of that supporting evidence with that form?

Yes I Sent a package via UPS to my then fiancée with I-864 and all supporting documents weeks before her interview so she could review it and become familiar with the documents since she felt confident about doing the interview herself, but if you will be attending the interview you can just bring it yourself.

Okay perfect! I’ve got all of the paperwork together and getting my husband to print the scanned copies and send it from his end as it’s much quicker than posting from NZ. I will take an exact replica of what we submitted for the entiret process to my interview. Thank you for all your help!

No problem and good luck on your journey!

I have one more question, if that’s okay? I’m fairly certain that we need to use form I-864ez, but I wanted to check and see if that’s the same one you used as we’re in the same situation. Thanks!

Hey, we just used the regular I-864 it’s just 3 pages more than the I-864ez and my thoughts about that was I didn’t want to complicate things if the person was not familiar with the ez version of the form or an excuse for them to delay our case for whatever reason. We all here to help each other so no problem with the questions just hope I was able to help you some!
