Discuss and start arranging your evidence of on-going relationship, go over the embassy checklist and sort out what may take time to get (like certified copies of divorce decree/s), discuss I-134 and be sure that you both understand it correctly. We are borderline and though unlikely, we might get away with 2017 taxes. Review and renew your letters of intent to marry. At this point it"s time to discuss a general idea of what kind of wedding would you like to have. Document these discussions and use them at the USem at the interview. Think about your shots, if missing, you still have time to administer some and save money later. Start researching into the AOS procedure. There are actually lots of things to keep a couple busy

Thanks so much. What do we have to do with taxes? I couldn’t find anything on USCIS website that states we need to submit any copies. We need to bring affidavit of support to interview, correct? I’ve been hearing mixed answers with some saying we only need it for the second interview after filing for adjustment of status. I don’t want to miss any steps or fall behind so this site has been so helpful for all the little things that might get overlooked. Thanks so much again for all responses. So helpful!!

Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline or your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine your Embassy. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Thanks

Thank you! I think it might be updated now. I am Canadian and my SO is the US petitioner.

Anyone doing anything in the meantime while you wait? I’ve heard the police certificate can take a while to receive but not sure if this is true. I feel like I should be doing something in the time waiting for NOA2 ahah

Thank you for fixing your profile. Now that I know what country your in, let me share some information to answer your questions.

For all things dealing with the US Consulate in Canada head on over to the subforum for Canada where they will answer your questions for the processing of your visa from their personal experience. Link:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/93-canada/

Get the Canadian K1 P3 letter at http://photos.state.gov/libraries/canada/303578/montreal/Packet3-K1-MTL.pdf as this is your bible needed to complete and receive your visa. The required documents are included and use the P3 as a check list. Once you have completed or gathered the required documents you'll be ready for your interview. If it is not on the Embassy letter, it probably is not needed.

Last but not least, READ the pages on the US Embassy website for you country so that you are up to speed.

http://canada.usembassy.gov/

https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ca/iv

You can't hurry it along at all. You have to wait for P3 which takes 2-4 weeks from Ready. Comply with what they ask for in P3 (the actually one they send you) by sending them a copy of the signed P3 checklist, your DS160 confirmation and your Passport Bio. Then they send you P4. Then they tell you to register to schedule and you'll wait some more for interviews to open up, which only happens once a month during the last week of the month for two months ahead UNLESS you are lucky and you scoop up a cancellation. Get your medical appointment first so you can schedule the interview shortly afterwards.

I requested my tax transcripts x 3 years from the IRS website (free), gathered copies of my W-2s and 1040s, and printed payslips x 6 months or so.  My fiancé took all of this documentation to his interview at the consulate, along with the I-134.

All of those documents included in the i-129f were during my first visit. Then I visited her last month so those were another set of additional proof.

Hey there!

I woke up freaking out over a technicality.

I'm from Argentina but I hold double citizenship (Argentinian - Italian). At the moment of filing, I was living in Italy. I'm moving back to Argentina (changing my legal residency back to Argentina from Italy) and we haven't received our NOA2 yet.

When we filed, we stated Italy as country of residency and we requested to use the consulate in Argentina, since I'm going to be there by the time of interview.

Do we need to submit any papers BEFORE WE RECEIVE THE NOA2 letting them know I'm moving? Or should I just enter my new residency information at the moment of filing the papers for the interview?

Confusing, I know.

Thanks for the help!

Yes there is some things you need to do.

1. Change your address using https://www.uscis.gov/addresschange

2. Then when you get your NOA2 approved then send NVC a request to change Embassies.

If you wish to have your immigrant/fiancée visa file transferred from one Embassy to another U.S. Embassy/Consulate, please contact the appropriate U.S. Embassy/Consulate directly in the country where you wish to apply and follow their instructions for case transfer. Please click here for the full list of all U.S. Embassies and Consulates overseas.

The old Embassy will need to receive a formal file transfer request from that U.S. Embassy/Consulate in the country where you wish to apply. Upon receipt of this request, they will immediately forward the file for the New Embassy to process.

Once you contact your New Embassy you then can discuss the transfer of your fee. Be sure to have your payment receipt available.
