Great!  Good luck to you both.  We received our NOA1 August 2nd.  The waiting game is on for us.  We are going to start watching for updates around December - February.  Long time to be waiting patiently.

Unfortunately, it appears that the minimum amount of time it's taking is at least 6 months.  Depending on your case, it could be more like 7-8 months.  We all hope for a quicker response.  I was told that they tend to move faster during the winter months.  Less people seem to be filing then.  It's going to be okay.  Just find something to keep you busy so that you will not stress over the next several months.

If you haven't done it yet, work on your timeline here on VJ.  It will give you a pretty good dates as to when you can expect your NOA2.  It seems to be pretty accurate, plus or minus a couple of days.  Good luck.

Hey everyone! Quick message looking for kind, encouraging words.

I'm with my fiance in the USA now. I came to visit after filing the K1 (yes, we are allowed to visit). We're now 2 moths into the process and I'm feeling a bit scared. We'll be having our interview in the Argentinian consulate and I've just read a review of someone saying that they saw two couples leaving the consulate in tears. I have no information about them or their situation, but you guys know what this is like. No matter how well I know we've done veerything, the thought of being rejected is always there.

Any uplifting messages?

Thanks in advance and happy waiting!

You have very little control over this process. The important thing is that you have been honest and submitted all requested documents and followed their requirements without deviation. When you stand in front of the CO at your Embassy interview, you show them you are confident and well prepared. You smile and answer their questions without wavering. Don't volunteer information and be short and to the point with your answers when questioned. The CO is very talented and has been trained to uncover information, and sometimes the information they uncover, in their eyes, does not look favorable to a visa approval. An approval will bring "tears" of joy. Stay strong.

So basically she will get a Noa2 case number around Mid April (my best guess - about 260 days out);

After Noa2 how long typically to the interview at the consulate assuming Medical and Ds-160 are completed quickly?

I believe they are sending an arbitrary date at some point to state the date and time for the interview,? but probably after NOA2 and DS-160 submission?

Lastly, I see from above it is 12 days to 16 weeks for them to "begin calling" I assume that is to schedule the interview? Or?  I had assumed there would not be any flexibility on the interview date but maybe the call to confirm the date and any required documents for the meeting?

The questions you are begging to ask are questions better asked in your regional/country sub-forum here on VJ. The questions sometimes can be specific to a certain Embassy and if someone tells you how it works in Germany, I don't think the outcome for you will be good if it is not correct. Here is some information for you to review.

After you get your case number from NVC it would be a good idea if you were to connect with the VJ subforum for all things dealing with the US Embassy in Colombia and they will answer your questions for the processing of your visa from their personal experience. Link:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/96-mexico-latin-south-america/

Get the US Embassy Colombian K-1 Packet 3 (P3) at  https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7hB3bl9Snfkb0NiMVFUd2JsVjA/view  as this is your bible needed to complete and receive your visa. The required documents are included and use the EL as a checklist. Once you have completed or gathered the required documents you'll be ready for your interview. If it is not on the Embassy letter, it probably is not needed.

Last but not least, READ the pages on the US Embassy website for your country so that you are up to speed.

One last place to check for information would be the VJ Wiki found here: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Special:AllPages and here http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Colombia&cty=Bogota

Hello fellow July filers! Hope everyone is doing well and staying positive. Well....using July 15 as the average of the month, we made it to half way mark. Only 100 +/- 20 days to go.

You can actually see the estimated time where you can receive your NOA2 in your VJ timeline. Mine was between January 29th and February 5th. NOA1 received July 25th.

How long after the confirmation text did you get your noa1 in the mail?

Hello fellow monks,

Yesterday (Oct/25) I received a hardcopy of the Form I-797C by mail. Now I'm wondering if I should be concerned because the system indicates July/25 for our NoA1 and my Form itself states that the notice date was Sep/18. Meaning whatever it came from it took waaaaay too long to get here. Based on that here's my question:

How important are the physically mailed documents sent by the USCIS? Has anyone else here experienced such delays?

I hope my process doesn't have to be stretched 1 or 2 months purely because of courier logistics =/

Edit: I got the Form yesterday in Brazil. My fiancée (sponsor) received her copy way back, in July).

Are you sure the one you got in the mail is the 797C and doesn't contain instructions about how to setup for interview?

Maybe Brazil is different, but most usually, the beneficiary doesn't seem to get a copy of the NOA1.

PS to answer your question, you are a July filer.

Yes... I don't think the beneficiary gets any notification copy by mail. It's only the US petitioner receives. My US fiance received it in first week of July itself and I haven't received anything. So not sure what are u referring to that u received. It wud be interesting if u share it.

We need a little bit more information

You, the BENEFICIARY in BRAZIL should NOT be receiving any documents from USCIS. They simply deal with petitioners IN the united States.

Did your fiance (petitioner) request for USCIS to mail it to you?

But otherwise, something is funky

Either way, your NOA1 is July 25th so no, you are a July filer.
