I mailed my package on 7/3/18 and heard nothing from USCIS yet. It was prepared by the attorney and they are the one issuing the check so I have no way checking to see if it cashed. I believe I should've got the text/ email if not official NOA.

A friend of mine already got the biometrics appointment and she mailed on the same day. Should I be concerned? I don't want to call my lawyer and look like I'm impatient psycho :)

Haha, I think calling your lawyer's office is totally fine - I'm sure they're used to it! Your friend sounds very lucky to have gotten her biometrics done already! But it's a marathon not a sprint, I'm sure we'll have a chance to catch up to her soon :)

Are you sure they put your phone number and email on the G-1145? If they put their details, perhaps they got the notification...

Based on my little research it's usually 10-15 days before they cash the check and at list a month before biometrics... But in every case it can be so different as well.

So just have more patience and sure call the lawyers office. I am sure they are used to it as @alol said, plus at least they can give you some peace of mind if it is cashed or not.

Mine was also prepped by an attorney! Mailed on the 12th by attorney, money order enclosed in the package was from husband.

Our attorney also threw in the G1145 e-notification form (with my husband’s email and phone number as receipient) before he mailed the whole package, so I think we will get emails and text messages when our NOA is ready. He said since he was the one that prepped our package, he can also get e-notifications of his own (don’t know how that works, probably with an USCIS account?)

Am still waitig for NOA1, we expect to hear from USCIS sometime around the end of July.

By the way, don’t know if anyone has done this before....... We’re using an LA attorney but we’re in Honolulu. We moved but still decided to go with the attorney back at home in LA.

I’ve heard that Honolulu has relatively slow processing times, so we are mentally prepared that our AOS is going to take at least 1.5 years.

Hi everyone,

Our whole package got returned in the mail today, we were rejected because our lawyer prepped our petition with outdated forms.

We’re getting another lawyer and requesting a refund of service fees.

@EducatedByAnimals Oh no! Sorry to hear that. If you can't find a lawyer you're happy with, you could always redo the forms yourselves - having the current package would be a great basis for them. In any case, I hope it doesn't set you back too much time...

I don't think you need to worry, if you open out the 'Edition Date' section on the website for the i-765: https://www.uscis.gov/i-765, it says they'll accept the 07/17/2017 form until 09/17/2018, so still a couple of months to go.

Quote

Edition Date

05/31/18. Starting 09/17/2018, we will only accept the 05/31/18 edition. Until then, you can use the 07/17/17 edition. You can find the edition date at the bottom of the page on the form and instructions.

i don’t know why our noa says our form is outdated.

lawyer sent in an outdated G28 lawyer form  also.

what the hxxk? I’m going through everything right now and apparently the lawyer didn’t even attach our tax stuff, nor a letter to explain why we didn’t file taxes for he past three years (because husband was in med school)

Where did you get the idea that 'being in med school' exempts you from filing a tax return? Just because you did not owe any Federal Income taxes, you MUST file a return every year to document that fact. Once you have filed, they expect you to file every year until you are dead. Then, your estate has to file for the year in which you died.

Get BUSY and prepare those returns and get them filed. If you owed zero taxes, then very likely there will be no penalties.

He got the idea somehere on the IRS website. Husband was single, below age 65, with zero income during med school. IRS requires single/below 65/with income over 10,350 USD to file taxes, if is lower than said income, then one is exempt from filing taxes for the current year.

He filed last year because he started to work as a state employee, so we have one year of tax records and supporting documents from the state. USCIS I864 filing instruction also states that we are allowed to attach a letter to explain why we can't provide three years of tax returns.
