Hello All. Just had a question for those who entered on K1. My fiancee is planning to leave her job a month before her K1 interview. She was wondering if she can apply for EI benefits on the basis of coming to America for a anticipated marriage. Have any of you ever filed for EI while using the K1 as the basis for getting EI benefits?

No no , EI as in employment insurance. What they pay you when you are unemployed.

This is what I found. Seems pretty hit or miss. You need to apply for El right away, but she won't be able to get money until she has EAD/AP (approx. 6 months from when you apply for it). The ones who receive it right away are CR1/IR1.
