The only "Great loss" is that the British people will have to put up with Gordon Brown after he's gone. Aside from that I'm not too upset to see the back of Bliar, any more than I was ecstatic to see Thatcher getting her comeuppence - swiftly followed by the implosion of the Tory party.

I won't disagree with that, but Tony Blair was much more than that, he did much more than that, it seems to have been lost to the war in Iraq.

From an outsider standpoint, I think Blair did a good job in a very difficult point in history. I say well done. Look at the British economy, NHS reform, education reform, social changes key for the success of a country. Look at the property prices, unemployment rate down, murder rate down. If supporting the coalition and going to Iraq was the worst of time in office, then I think he's done a great deal for Britain.

Just my thoughts :P

Meh...we won't be around for Grabby Gordon's rule, so I don't really care.

I'm sad Blair is gone, but I agree. But if Hilary Clinton gets elected we are moving back to Scotland.

I'll probably end up voting for her.

I read something scary about Scotland today...it said that there are 5 million Scots but only 375,000 economically independent ones, i.e. ones that put more into the system than what they take out. Sounds like Scotland's headed for trouble.

Plus, Grabby Gordon on his best day will be way worse than Clinton on her worst. The UK is headed for some pretty serious trouble; sure, he's managed to stave off recession for now, but some of the UK's economic fundamentals are just f*cking scary.

Yup, if Scotland does in fact go its own way I have no doubt that it'll crumble sooner rather than later :/

To be honest it's the last place in the UK I'd want to live because of its economic fundamentals. It's a beautiful country and I enjoyed visiting it, but living there would drive me nuts. I like having a job.

He also did about as much to damage Britain's democratic ideals as Bush has done to the US. Nowhere near as bad as Thatcher, at least he's got that going for him...

I agree. He has really tightened the state's grip on personal privacy. It's scary. I didn't live here under Thatcher so I have no basis for comparison, but if she was worse I'm glad I wasn't here.
