Hello everyone,

so I just received my citizenship papers today at the oath ceremony, wooow. :/)

what is the quickest way to receive a US passport ? There was no chance to apply today at the oath ceremony and even if, I believe that would not have been fast.

How can I get the process expedited to just  take 2 weeks or so ?

Due to a family member overseas not being very healthy, I would hate to not be less to travel for many weeks if need be.

Thanks for any help !!!

Check on the State department passport section or go to your nearest USPS office. To get it expedited you will need to pay extra.

There is a chart that says where to apply for different circumstances on this page: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/requirements/where-to-apply.html

Hi,

Like others have suggested, go to USPS website to check how to apply for your US passport.

Thank you very much !!!

i had a look and it says that I need proof of travel in order to get an expedited one for two to three weeks. But how can I show that proof if i can’t but flight tickets as I don’t have a passport number yet ?

I'm probably not the best person to answer this question as I haven't traveled internationally by flight since 1998, lol. But I found this article from a few months ago: http://traveltips.usatoday.com/need-passport-book-international-flight-62140.html. If the booking site you use asks for a passport number you can try using a different booking site instead.

Slightly off-topic: Do you have a passport from your home country? This blog mentions the pros and cons of having and traveling with 2 passports: https://thepointsguy.com/guide/two-passport-travel-double-trouble-or-twice-the-charm/

Hi there, I became a us citizen last Tuesday July 3rd, and I have a flight for July 17 Wich I bought on March, so I printed out the itinerary, that is the proof they need, went to the passport agency on Friday July 6, and my passport is ready to pickup tomorrow morning July 9😉, I paid in total $205 dollars.

I hope this is of help for someone:

I ended up applying at a normal location and expedited it the normal way (60.00$)

Other than that the only extra fee I paid was for priority mail. I was told it would take 2-3 weeks. However, after just one week, I received my passport !!! :-)
