My mom is an american citizenship via naturalization back in the 80s. I'm not sure if my mom ever had a naturalization certificate but she has an alien registration number and a date of naturalization.

I'm trying to help her get a new naturalization certificate (to use this certificate to prove she has lived in America for 5 years in order to help me get my US citizenship (I'm Canadian)).

However, I cannot answer a few questions on the form:

1. "Certificate Number"

2. "My Last Certificate or Declaration of Intention was Issued to me by:

- USCIS Office or Name of Court:

- Date:

- Name in Which the Document Was Issued:"

Does anyone know how I can retrieve this information? My mom and I both live in Canada and someone on the phone told us to go to a USCIS office, but I'm not sure if that's true or not. If we have to go to an office, this means we need to go to America to do so.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

then is a FOIA request.

Arrival after May 1, 1951
All immigrants admitted since May 1, 1951 should be entirely documented in an A-File, a unified folder intended to hold all records related to one individual. A-Files numbered 8 million and above (arrived May 1, 1951 and after) are available through the USCIS Freedom of Information Act Program (FOIA).

click in there and you can fax the request.
