Expired AP - new AP taking very long time

Hey,

I have filed for AOS+EAD+AP on May 2017.

I have gotten the EAD + AP combo card on June 2017 (only 1 month after filing!).

I am *still* waiting to get an interview for my AOS (San Francisco office...), but for now my EAD and AP have already expired.

I have sent the forms to renew EAD + AP on February 2017, which is 4 months before expiration (earliest USCIS allows), but they are both still at "Case was received" (from February 20) stage and no change yet...

Now I want to leave the US for a vacation but my AP is expired so I can't which sucks really bad (EAD is extended automatically by 180 days so I guess that's ok).

Is it normal that the second AP (which supposedly is much easier to process since I already received one) is taking so long? It is almost outside of normal processing times (only 1 more month and it will be...).

USCIS is useless as always so I have nobody to talk to over there.

Thanks!

Yes, it is normal. For some reason, the renewal EAD/AP takes much longer than the initial application. My first combo card arrived after 3 months. I applied for renewal in mid-May and do not expect it to be approved before October-November. I am a member of another AOS group on facebook and see those who applied for AP/EAD renewal in January-February 2018, have just started to receive their approvals. Yours may arrive any day now. Don't leave the country without AP.

Thank you for the insight JSWH.
I am somewhat relieved to know it's not "just me" in this situation..

So I really just hope to get it in the next couple of weeks so I could fly away in end of July. I honestly was 100% sure that since I filed for the extension so far in advanced (mid February when it expires in end of June!) I would have the new one by now for sure!

I obviously won't leave without the AP, that would be ludicrous...
