Has anyone renewed their UK passport from America recently? How long did it roughly take from the day you sent it off to the day you got it back?

Ive just had to send mine off today, and my 1 year extension letter runs out in September, I’ll need to get my passport stamped, anyone knows what happens if i don’t have it back in time?

Not yet but some have said about 3 weeks. I called the passport agency today. Wanted to upload a photo and it wasn't giving me that option. Wanted to clarify if my dual nationality was the reason I have to mail in an actual photo. (I am a naturalized USC now.) Yep, it is the reason.  Bummer! I haven't found an easy/cheap place to get a UK size made around here.  Will start another search or get clever with the scissors 😂.  Mine has expired.

Not renewed but I did apply for my daughters first passport, usually this takes longer than a renewal. It was less than eight weeks and that is after having to send an extra document, from within the uk, was trying to avoid sending the extra document as it is the old style birth certificates and irreplaceable if lost.

We couldn’t find anywhere that does the uk size anymore, recent upgrades and the new machines don’t have the option enabled. We took a photo with iPhone that met the background color requirement, uploaded it to a website to process for correct size and it printed multiple on one 4 by 6 photo which we then sent through target photo for printing as could pick up in store. Did this for both us and Uk passports as a three month old is hard to photograph so needed multiple takes before one we would be happy with, no problems in getting the passports. Will say to test print on normal paper at home first to make sure it has adjusted to correct requirements for head size and position before sending to get final copy done.

I sent a US size photo when I renewed my passport and had no problem :)

The whole process was much quicker than I expected, I'm fairly sure I got it back faster than the last time I renewed it in the UK 😂

Everything crossed for a smooth and stress free journey
