Hey, for all you guys that have gone through your interview, what was your dress code? I have to go straight to work from my interview, but it's also casual Friday. Can I get away with wearing jeans?

@GloAndCole I hope so!!!! Juneau is getting cold now, too. I heard it snowed it Anchorage a couple of days ago already. We are expecting to see some snow this week, too!!!!

Hello guys, I applied for naturalization online in August 2018 and did my biometrics in first week of September 2018, since that finger printing date I have not heard anything about my case but right now case completion time says 10 months (aug 2018). I looked at my case status with just entering my receipt number it still says the same thing ( we have scheduled a biometric appointment for you on aug 22 2018) and on the dhs website in my account it says ( we reviewed your biometrics, you do not need to do anything at this time) so since both the websites had different information I had to message IO, i asked about my case then they replied saying. YOUR APPLICATION INFORMATION HAS BEEN ENTERED INTO THE SYSTEM WHICH SCHEDULES INTERVIEWS AT THEIR LOCAL FIELD OFFICE. INTERVIEW APPOINTMENTS ARE SCHEDULED AS SLOTS BECOME AVAILABLE AT THE FIELD OFFICE.  So that means my background check is done? M I in line for interview? Response would be appreciated.

Yes, I did.  I had a shirt and tie with a sweater over the top.  Clean and un-torn blue jeans.  No issues.

I just wore regular work clothes and came straight to work after! :dance: How was your oath cermony??

 

Interview went well, IO thought I was still married, had to correct her and provide her with divorce decree. Considering I was divorced only half a year after receiving the 10yr GC she was suspicious, and understandably so; asked me if I married him for the Green Card. I told her no, because that's the God-honest truth. I added that it was a complicated situation where he gaslighted me about his cheating. She understood completely after that.

 

She asked me a bunch more questions because apparently they were left blank even though I answered them all in the online application, like being in the Nazi Germany party, I was confused, because I had already answered all of those questions on the application, and she just said that I was like the 10th person that she had to do this with, must've been a glitch in the application.

 

Made me write on a screen, asked me 6 civics/history questions, then told me I passed. Yay!

My Oath ceremony is slated to be held December 6th, my ex-husband's birthday. :rofl:

Hi all, I just received my Oath taking ceremony notice. It's scheduled for December 21st, so unfortunately, it looks like I won't be able to meet you @GloAndCole!! I think since I am going to have to fly out to ANC because that is the sole service center in Alaska, they gave at least 4 weeks to schedule it. I was hoping I'd get the November 16th date, too, but I am okay with this date. An early Christmas gift, I might say. Updating my timeline!

@GloAndCole and @Prawninator, it was a really great day.  It has left me with a sense of permanence and security.  I thought that I would actually read the oath out aloud albeit bit by bit with everyone else at the same time, but the judge read it out like a question and everyone had to respond "I do".  Kind of odd to me, but hey.  Also we all stood for the judge on his arrival but people left immediately once they'd got their paperwork.  No grand applause for everyone at the end, most had already left.  My wife and I stuck around so I could have a picture next to the seal and then the flag.  I helped a lady take some nice pictures in the same way as she was on her own (so sad really!!).  But everyone was smiling and even the older more stoic of those present were eminating a sense of pride.

 

At the beginning we were given several bits of paperwork, one of which was the words to the star spangled banner, the words to the oath and the pledge of allegence, the pledge happened as quick as a flash before the judge sat down.  I had my right hand in the air like I was swearing an oath and my wife kindly showed me to place in on my heart.  By the time I realised what we were doing and I'd found my bit of paper with the words on it was over.  The oath I didn't need the words to and we didn't use the words to the star spangled banner.  (it was a bit of a mess if I'm honest - but I didn't care lol)

 

Once USCIS had processed all our paperwork we waited about an hour for the judge to arrive.  My wife liked the judges speech about freedom and the reason why people are lining up to come here and not places like Syria (Yes he said that!).  He talked about the entrepreneurial spirit in Americans and a few other things, but after waiting for an hour I personally didn't really care what he had to say. 

 

There was an opportunity to register to vote afterwards which I ignored because I'm going to do that at my local BMV.  I didn't see anything about updating the Social Security records, but on the paperwork it does say that you should wait tens business days before going to update it so that USCIS can forward some paperwork to them.

 

Jeans were worn by several at Cleveland!  But they looked out of place and to a degree disrespectful especially when you were asked not to were them. 

 

As I have read a few times on here:  "My contract with USCIS is over". 🙂

Wow we already have one US citizen here! Congratulations PoohBear72. Ironically, you and I, we filed on the same day, but I have yet to receive an interview letter. What a difference. I guess this is the price that I have to pay for living in a beautiful Golden State, haha.

My IO actually had a stack of Oath letters printed out with the date and location, she just hand-wrote my name and A-number in the appropriate boxes and handed it to me. Does that count as the letter, I wonder, or will I still get a more "official" copy in the mail?

I did! Mine was mailed off to me. Go check on your online account you should have one on the tab
