Thanks @Greenbaum!! Yes I already have a case number. Yeah I'm pretty sure it's just me getting a little bit impatient because it seems like everyone is getting their "in transit" status change within a week and mine isnt but I know comparing won't help and like you said, trust the process!!!!

Try this. At the top of this page is a blue ribbon with a number of tabs; select "portals" and on the landing page if your country doesn't appear then search for your country. Select it from the list. Now look in the upper middle of the page for "Quick Links". Look down to the last entry which should say "your country's name + Visa Timelines". Now an excel looking spreadsheet will populate for others who are currently applying for a visa from your country. Follow across the top line of the spreadsheet to become familiar with the information and then where your interest lies you'll be able to analysis the information. This should give you a good idea where you stand with other members of your country and their journey. This should be a better understand of who is getting and who is approved and when.

I know this will depend from Embassy to Embassy...

But how long after "Ready" status will they contact you?

Indonesian Embassy if anyone knows specifically... thanks

In our experience, the Embassy contacted Travis after 3 days asking about beneficiary's address, phone number, and email.

Then in the next day Rakhel got the email from embassy about what documents you need to get including the medical examination.

Good luck!

Be sure to call 603-334-0700.  Press 1 for English and then 7.  After a wait somebody will come on the line and you can give them your WAC number.

I got through this morning but unfortunately they have not received the case yet from USCIS.  July 16 NOA2 so any time now (15 days so far).  Some lucky people have gotten an NVC number as quickly as 10 days.  The agent gives the standard response that it can take up to 6 weeks to receive but fortunately that seems to rarely happen.

If you get a recording that all agents are busy, just keep trying.  Sometimes I get that recording and just wait a few hours and try again.  When I have gotten through my waits have been 4, 25, 23, and 15 minutes.  The 4 minute wait was when I called early in the morning.

Thank you so much for the detailed response!! I tried calling yesterday just in case you know. My NOA2 is dated July 20th so it might be too early to call since probably it hasn't even left USCIS but wanted to try. I'll try again today then, thank you!! And hopefully you get some news soon, I'm sure it will arrive either today or tomorrow! 😊

I am also July 16, I just called

pushed one for English

pushed 2 for representative

waited 20 minutes

NVC still does not have my case yet, no case number. Should be any day now, just not today 😛 so no fears if you have not heard anything. It’s just normal.

What I meant is that (from what I’ve heard) when you file for EAD along with AOS it’s cheaper than when you file for EAD separately, for example three months before filing for AOS. Does anyone know how much cheaper is it?

If you file for EAD (and Advance Parole) along with AOS, there's no additional charge, so there's no reason not to do it (even if you don't currently intend to do any international traveling or work outside the home in the first year or so of your marriage). And while you technically can file for EAD during the original 90 days of your K-1, it's never going to be granted before the 90 days of the K-1 is up and you'd have to re-apply with (or after) AOS anyway.

Anyway, the point is that you should always file for EAD and AP with AOS.

Just got NVC number today, and I went back and read the last 20 pages of this topic...thread.  It seems like everything was laid out step by step until this point and then becomes a mixed bag.  Maybe it's because we begin dealing with embassies from all over the world.  Can you tell me if I am on the right track here?

  • Right now CEAC says AT NVC obviously
  • I can go ahead and complete the DS-160 but she will need a digital photo and she has to submit.
  • Wait until it says READY? or APPROVED? before trying to schedule medical and interview?
  • Will I have to send any documents to anyone other than my fiancee i.e. affidavit of support, proof of relationship, and all that jazz

There's so much differing information on VJ and the web that my brain is starting to hurt.

Thanks in advance!

How is it possible that some of the cases get at the nvc really fast and some of them take weeks to get there, does somebody know how this works?

Some are sent electronically and some still use DHL. And then you still have to wait for the embassy to update their system with your case. It is a total crapshoot. There is no rhyme or reason just like the rest of the process.

Just realized maybe you are talking about just being sent from California to NVC. In that case, they wait for a certain number of cases to be ready (I think) and then send them off in batches. Then you have to wait for them to scan them in. Again, a total crapshoot if you get lucky or not.

  • I can go ahead and complete the DS-160 but she will need a digital photo and she has to submit. Yes, that's correct.
  • Wait until it says READY? or APPROVED? before trying to schedule medical and interview? Chances are you can but wait for it to be intransit. Check to verify this with the instructions: https://br.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee/the-interview-2/
  • Will I have to send any documents to anyone other than my fiancee i.e. affidavit of support, proof of relationship, and all that jazz Just your fiancée receives the documents from this point forward.

There's so much differing information on VJ and the web that my brain is starting to hurt. Read the link as that is the P3 letter from the Embassy in Brazil.

Thanks in advance! Your welcome.

K-1 What's next after NVC - These are general requirements but it's time to find your sub-forum for you country, instructions below. Your asking a bunch of ppl who are in the same boat as you and are trying to understand their Embassy but have little knowledge of your Embassy's process or requirement's.

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/family-immigration/nonimmigrant-visa-for-a-fiance-k-1.html

Go up to the blue ribbon at the top of the page and select "portals". Find your Embassy and there see your answer. Other place is your sub-forum. Top of the page again and then select "forums" and then scroll down 3/4 of the page and look for your country or your region and join that thread. Lots of people there who have the answers your looking for.

You can submit the DS 160 already but I recommend taking your time. Not sure this is how it works with other embassies but when you book your interview in Brazil you will be asked to provide the code to your DS 160 and your RDJ (case number). So to be on the safe side I would take my time triple checking every answer before submitting because I don't know if resubmitting would create issues later on.

You do not need to upload the digital photo.

System will not allow you to book the interview while you are AT NVC. There have been cases in which people booked their appointments while case was IN TRANSIT but if you are in doubt as to what website to use, steps to follow, how to pay the fee, your best option is to wait for the Consulate to send you an email.

The list of documents you will need is here: https://br.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee/the-interview-2/

If you have any questions after checking that link you might want to check with the Consulate, they are very helpful and quick to respond.

Good luck! :)

An interesting observation....   I am looking at the K1 Fiancé Visa Timeline data here on VJ and it looks like the NVC batches mailing to the Consulates  every two weeks.

I can see large number of users who recorded "NVC Left" on June 26, July 10th and July 24th.   There are a few in between, but only 1 or 2 per day.  But on the batch days I see several dozen recorded.

So, if your petition is currently "At NVC", such as myself, I believe we will likely leave the NVC on August 7th.

I just got off the phone with the people from the ais.us.visa website about how to pay the interview fee.

When I wanted to schedule my interview none of the dates were available. I emailed the consulate to ask if I was doing something wrong. They mailed me back that there was an appointment available on the 14th. I told her my calendar was still grey and send them a screenshot. They replied that they scheduled the appointment on august 14th at 2.

I went back to the website to go pay the fee and all but I couldn't. There was no option. So I mailed the consulate again but got no response. I mailed them again yesterday, no response (remember I got within the minute responses on Friday!)

Today I got the tip to call the website for support. They been on the phone with me a long time, asking all sorts of questions as the didn't understand why I had passed by the pay the fee part. After half an hour we started going through the registration parts and apparently I was logged in as the wrong category!!! Thank you consulate for not telling me that nor checking!!! Now I have to get my old account deleted, make a new one, and reschedule the interview. I just send them an email to delete the account and it replied that it could take 3 to 4 businessdays.

I knew it was too good to be true. I just knew it.

Did you ask if they can block the interview date you already had for you? I'm sorry to hear this.
