We received our NOA2 on the new website 7/16/2018 (Monday).  Informed delivery says our paper copy is coming in the mail today 7/20/2018 (Friday).

How do you find out if it is informed delivery?

I called today cause I was impatient, but they had our case #.  Only 9 business days!

NOA2: July 7

Case #: July 19

Congratulations!  So, do you file the ds160 after having gotten the case number?  What’s the next step?  Thanks in advance. ❤️

Thank you so much, everyone!

I receive a scanned image of my mail each morning showing what will arrive that day.  One of those scans was a USCIS envelope.

Actually, there is no place on the DS160 for the case number, only the USCIS given WAC number....

I am ready to file it but have a few questions for my fiance, after that I will send it in

So when is the right time to complete the ds-160?

Guangzhou is our interviewing embassy.  Do we need to do ds-160 for guangzhou?  Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much, everyone!

Every Embassy requires the submittal of the DS-160. The DS - 160 is a document that stands alone. It does not affect anything. It does not need to be finished to do anything else but needs to be completed for the interview and it can be completed between now and the day before your interview. You can't use it to find any information about your case. You can't use if for anything other than for its original intent and that is for the CO to use during your interview to adjudicate your case.

Here is what I have for the documents and the procedures for China.

The P3 for GUZ is only 4 line items

1. DS-160 Confirmation Page

2. Copy of Passport Personal Page

3. 2 Passport style photos White Background, Well Lit, 50mm x 50mm

4. Return the P3 instructions page

#4 is what prevents people in China from getting a head start, they want the instructions page mailed back with the requested documents.

http://www.ustraveldocs.com/cn/cn-iv-visaapplyinfo.asp#KVisaPetitions

U.S. Consulate General Guangzhou when it is time to schedule an interview. K visa applicants will be notified by the U.S. Consulate General Guangzhou when it is time to schedule an interview.

Additional information is here http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=China&cty=Guangzhou

Here you will find Consulate and interview reviews http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=China

Congrats!

Are you talking about P3 from the embassy or NOA-2 (also referred to as package 2)?

Your case will first go to NVC where it will get an nvc number. This generally takes 10 days right now. After that your package will be sent to the embassy. Once the embassy receives the case they will send the beneficiary package 3. Not all embassies make you wait for P3. Some can start scheduling things with their NVC number. @Greenbaum might know more about the Canadian embassy.

Hi! Thank you for your response.  I guess we are referring to packet 2.  We still don’t have an NVC number but I’m happy to hear it’s not took long of a wait right now.

If you are having your interview in Montreal then the P3 is http://photos.state.gov/libraries/canada/303578/montreal/Packet3-K1-MTL.pdf

If Vancouver https://photos.state.gov/libraries/canada/303578/Vancouver/k_pkt3.pdf

Hey! Thought I would share some knowledge.

I asked my lawyer and she said that if you take the medical exam too early and it arrives at the embassy without any case number being associated with it, it will be lost or disposed of.

Well what your lawyer told you is impossible because your file is not released to your Embassy until such time as NVC assigns a case number. So when the case does arrive it has a case number for the Embassy. I have helped hundreds to get their visa in the Philippines and here in some of the threads and never have any of them who have completed their medical prior to the interview every was denied or was a cause for problems.

Lawyers who do these petitions are worthless. :bonk:  Lawyers who are immigration attorneys and do case work for immigration related issues are needed and serve a genuine purpose. Just my two cents.

FYI I went to get my Canadian police certificate while waiting, and started to fill out the DS-160. I'm also looking into my vaccination records to check that I have everything required in advance of the medical

I commend you on getting a head start on gathering your documents. Your vaccination record would help the CS at your medical but it is not needed. They will determine your vaccination requirements from your physical (looking on your arms for scars), interviewing you and blood tests. So relax if you can't find the vaccination record. All is good.

I had heard that bit of information 6 months ago but I wasn't up to date with what was currently the procedure their in Canada. I figured there would have been an uprising because of only one location. That kind of suck for you. Thanks for the update I appreciate it.

Hi everyone,

Happy we all made it to this stage and rooting for those still waiting for NOA2.

Can anybody tell me if my fiance in Japan can schedule her medical after getting our NVC case number or does she need to wait until contacted by the embassy in Tokyo?

Thanks

Here is the P3 letter https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Zgtf2aw4KFpGD7vg2lSgiW5ZXKN3JY0r/view?usp=sharing. Look it over and see if it answers your question. @Naes Is the resident expert on Japan. You might befriend her and see what tidbits she can offer.
