Hey! Thought I would share some knowledge.

I asked my lawyer and she said that if you take the medical exam too early and it arrives at the embassy without any case number being associated with it, it will be lost or disposed of.

Hi everyone!

Our NOA1 is January 12 (old site) and January 18 (new site).  NOA2 date on new site was July 18! 🙂

We were wondering... how long does the NOA2 packet take to be mailed out to the beneficiary.  What else can we be doing in the meantime while waiting for this package?

Are there any other Canadians on this thread?  What’s the wait time looking like for the scheduling medical and scheduling an interview?

Congrats!

Are you talking about P3 from the embassy or NOA-2 (also referred to as package 2)?

Your case will first go to NVC where it will get an nvc number. This generally takes 10 days right now. After that your package will be sent to the embassy. Once the embassy receives the case they will send the beneficiary package 3. Not all embassies make you wait for P3. Some can start scheduling things with their NVC number. @Greenbaum might know more about the Canadian embassy.

Hi! Thank you for your response.  I guess we are referring to packet 2.  We still don’t have an NVC number but I’m happy to hear it’s not took long of a wait right now.

NOA-2 is usually sent out to the petitioner on the same day or the day after. Depending on the mail in your area it should reach you within about 5 days.

I'm preparing the package for the embassy right now and Im working on the affidavit of support. I have the signed I-134 an all the documents that go with it. But I also have a complete tax return. What pages of the tax return do I need for this? Do I need to submit the whole thing? That's like a hundred pages...

Also, I'm going through the list of all documents needed for the Amsterdam embassy and no where it says to have another letter of intent to marry

I have it anyway, so I'll just add it. But that just strikes me as weird.

You may wish to download the Tax Transcript online which is acceptable for the I-134 and include everything that is included on the transcript.   It can be accessed here:   https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

Good luck!

We received our NOA2 on the new website 7/16/2018 (Monday).  Informed delivery says our paper copy is coming in the mail today 7/20/2018 (Friday).

Hi everyone,

Happy we all made it to this stage and rooting for those still waiting for NOA2.

Can anybody tell me if my fiance in Japan can schedule her medical after getting our NVC case number or does she need to wait until contacted by the embassy in Tokyo?

Thanks

I'm Canadian! Congrats on your petition getting approved! My fiancé (US citizen) received the NOA2 paper copy 4 days after our approval, but our approval didn't even show up on the new site until a day after that. Their notification systems seem to be pretty random right now. Take a deep breath, check out this page: https://sites.google.com/view/post-noa2/home then start reading all the Canadian-specific threads that seem helpful (there are lots): http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/93-canada/

I don't know about the timing now, but I got a case number from the NVC yesterday (start calling them after 10 business days). I'm actually not trying to do everything super ASAP because I'm a self-employed musician and I have work here at home until late September. My fiancé has a trip to visit me booked for next month...Hoping to have my interview in September if possible, and then move to the US in October. All depends on plane ticket prices too, because I live on the other side of the continent from Montreal and from the city where I'm moving to! Hope this helps - see you along the way :)

FYI I went to get my Canadian police certificate while waiting, and started to fill out the DS-160. I'm also looking into my vaccination records to check that I have everything required in advance of the medical
