Please tell me, if you know. NVC assigns the number of cases that will be received from the USCIS. are these numbers unique for each case? or a few cases may have the same number, only with different letters (KEV/MOS etc..)?

K1 is not an immigrant visa. So that method is not correct.

Right now, you have 2 choices.

you can wait for embassy to send packet 3 and follow that through (which doesn't really have much in it...because they won't send you the appointment date nor you will request it. They will basically just send you the link - which is already on their website... This is an overall copy of what you get from them: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/663042-feb-2018-noa2-nvc-thread/?page=76

however this members fiance was from another nationality so the things you need to send changes from person to person. so you can't attend the interview without these papers. However, it has nothing to do with scheduling the interview itself.

you can fill and submit DS-160 now (this can be done as it is ready already)

Then you can go to the interview appointment page for non-immigrant visas (you can find this on the embassy website too . url: https://cgifederal.secure.force.com) (this is where you pay the fee)

here you can make your account, pay the visa fee and get your appointment.you cannot schedule interview without paying. And if you schedule more than twice and end up cancelling to make another one you will have to pay again. So be careful when rescheduling.

(as you can change it anyway. I would just get it if you have all your documents ready for the interview. and don't forget to give the time for the medical results, this depends on which clinic you used -seibo gives in 4 business days-)

I put a detailed review of this process on the embassy reviews. read this to get an idea. you can find it on my timeline http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=272463

Wedding plans are crazy... like crazy... 9 more days to go! :)

Hello Naes,

Congratulations to you both.  I like your profile picture of the blue and white ducks. We have a similar mascot but penguins . I want to ask you questions about your timeline. Especially after packet 2 you got in April.  But couldn't send you a direct PM.

Would you explain how you had three appointments?

(It looked like you had one in July initially then changed to June, then to May for the actual interview.

When did you start to make appointments?

About when did you have your medical appointments?

My fiance is in Sapporo and would travel to Tokyo for the interview and Medical. Do you think it's possible to have the medical appointment very close to the interview ?  A few days would be best is that possible?

Thanks you again.  James , J&J

Each case number is unique in that you will have three letters (for your Embassy so MNL is for Manila Philippines) then your next 10 numbers.

How to Find Out WHEN Your Case Number was Assigned

For those that don't call every single day and want to know exactly what date their case number was assigned, there's an easy way to find out that simply involves looking at your case number. The first three letters are the three-letter consulate/embassy code. The next four numbers are the year the case number was assigned. The next three numbers are the Julian date it was assigned, plus 500. And finally, the last three numbers are the sequential order of when it was assigned that date. You can find a chart with Julian dates here [10].

For example: MTL2014815162. Let's put some lines in to divide it up. So: MTL|2014|815|162. This means that this case is going through Montreal and the number was assigned on November 11th, 2014, and it was the 162nd case that day to be assigned a number.

Update for us....I wanted to be with my fiancé for the interview and had the circumstances to fly to Togo so be with him. Everything seems to move much faster once your case receives the NVC. August 8 I flew to Togo and the same day I noticed our case said it was in transit from the NVC to the embassy in Togo. August 9 it arrived...and was ready...so obviously ours is sent electronically!!! We wrote the consultant and told them we are ready to pick up the packet 3 and schedule our medical and interview. It’s how it goes in this country. They emailed us back and told us to come August 16 to pick up our packet and schedule our appointments. Sadly my fiancé became very sick with malaria, high fever for 4 days, and in bed for a week. We could not get the packet August 16 but the embassy told us to come August 20 to pick up the packet and schedule our appointments. They gave us the interview date!! August 30! But then we ran into some problems we thought...the medical exams in Togo are sent to America to review them and sent back here and then we can pick them up to bring to the embassy for he interview. Because my fiancé was sick he could not get a medical exam until today August 24. Sadly these results won’t come in time for the interview August 30. We contacted the embassy about this and they asked us to come for the interview anyways and when the results are ready for medical we can come back with them. Well we are happy to still be able to have the interview since we were told the embassy is very busy next month and won’t be able to do our interview until October. So we really needed to do it August 30! And happy they are fine that the medical results won’t be ready and we can just bring them in when they are. Well that’s our update! Hope all is going well with everyone else!!

we were given a case number. then we made a request to change the embassy. and I found the same number only with other letters (the abbreviation of the embassy, where we want to go for an interview). I was a little embarrassed, since we did not receive a letter from the NVC that our request was processed, and for us the embassy changed. so I asked if this number is unique for each case. or another case can have the same number, but only with different letters. and if it means they changed an embassy for us. because when we call last time they did not know about this anything
I am sorry if I confused you with my questions😁

I would imagine that it is entirely possible to have two cases whose numbers are exactly the same, but they have different letters, as the numbers indicate the date of approval/case number assignment, and the number processed for that day.

So if you get a manila case processed on the 21st of August 2018, and it's the 999th case processed for that embassy it would be:

MNL2018821999

On that same day, you get a london case processed, and it's the 999th case processed for that embassy, it would be

LND2018821999.

From what I understand, the case number that you found very likely relates to someone else's case.

(Sorry to jump in @Greenbaum)

The case number is unique to you, and all that changed was the three letter code for the Embassy. Your way over thinking this process.

Hi guys!

just a little update for my Canadians! I received the packet 4 today by email. I booked my medical and interview already!

Septemebr 12🙏🏻

That's great! Question for you - when did you get P3? The consulate received mine / my status on CEAC went to 'ready' the same day as you but I haven't received anything yet :( Did you get P3 via email to the beneficiary or by mail to both petitioner and beneficiary? Congrats on booking your interview!!!! Were there still September and the first week of october dates available?

Thanks!
