Realistic timeframe to receive AP/EAD combo card?

My wife and I received a notice of acceptance from the NBC for our I-131 and I-765 forms on March 22, 2018. If I am looking at the current processing times on the USCIS site (listed today as processing 1/12/18) and this site (listed today as processing 2/5/18) , I am not sure which is more realistic? My lawyer told us 90 days, but obviously this is not correct or the combo card would have already arrived. The waiting is hard, but I am sure this is old news for most of you here.

 

Question: anyone who used the NBC for their AP/EAD combo card in 2018, how long does it take from your experience?

Realistically speaking, It could take up to 6 months and sometimes longer. Am sure your lawyer might be right, but this is not what in reality happening. Ours took 5 months. 

If you are one of the lucky ones, you might get your AOS interview and Green card prior to even getting the EAD. Anything is possible with the USCIS, they operate in a mysterious ways.

They don't adhere to the 90-day rule anymore. Not even close.

 

Ours took 8 months because our file was just sitting for 6 months. Then USCIS was like, "Oh dang it, we need more financial paperwork from these people to make sure they're still eligible." So they sent us an RFIE and by the time that all cleared up, another two months had passed. So my advice is to allow for a LOT of time.

Realistically 4-5 months is the average nowadays; like someone else said before the 90 days is no longer applicable, they changed it.

If before that you get a job offer, you can try to expedite and have your Congressman/Senator try to help you, but even an expedite takes between 3 weeks to a month so you might as well just wait until at least 120 days to try to do anything.

01/08/2018: Priority Date

01/19/2018: Checks cashed

01/22/2018: 3 NOA's received in Mail (I-130, I-485 and I-765)

02/09/201: Received Biometrics Appointment Letter scheduled for 02/22

02/10/2018: Email notification of RFIE :(

02/12/2018: Early walk-in for Biometrics, successful

02/16/2018: RFIE received for birth certificate and translation, sent back the same day

02/20/2018: RFIE response delivered, sent via Fedex

02/23/2018: Case status updated to RFIE response received

03/05/2018: Courtesy letter for I-693, medical exam received, letter dated Feb 28th

03/08/2018: AP application delivered by Fedex

03/19/2018: NOA for AP received in the mailbox

05/03/2018: AP ONLY approved (Approved in 56 days)

05/11/2018: AP received in Mail

05/21/2018: Email received,EAD card in production (Day 133)

05/22/2018: Interview scheduled

05/25/2018: EAD approval letter received in Mail

05/29/2018: EAD card and letter for interview (Jun.26th) both received in Mail, Woot woot :)

06/26/2018: Interview completed, now waiting for the magical email/letter...

10/30/2018: Went to Infopass, officer has not made a decision yet, an email was sent to him tell him I came to inquire

03/26/2019: Moved so updated our address online with USCIS

04/16/2019: I-130 petition approved

04/20/2019: approval notice received in the mail

04/22/2019: received notification of RFE for AOS I-485

06/01/2019: RFE finally received after being lost in the mail, asking for a new medical exam

06/06/2019: Response to RFE sent, received the next day 06/07/2019

06/17/2019: Received notification of another RFE, 3rd time will be the charm hopefully

06/22/2019: RFE received for new medical

07/02/2019: Went to doctor for new medical

07/11/2019: I-485 approved without new medical exam

07/18/2019: Green Card received in mail

On average 4-5 months if no RFEs. Mine came in exactly 120 days earlier this year.

  • Feb 17 2018 - Arrived USA with B2-Tourist Visa
  • Apr 01 2018 - US Citizen Boyfriend proposed
  • Apr 18 2018 - Got Married in Montana, USA
  • May 15 2018 - Mailed out USCIS applications (I-130, I-130A, I-485, I-864, I-765, I-131) to Chicago Lockbox
  • (Day 1) May 16 2018 - Mail arrived Chicago Lockbox (confirmed by USPS) 
  • (Day 19) Jun 04 2018 - Received email & SMS notification - case received (All money orders being cashed on this day)
  • (Day 24) Jun 09 2018 - Received all receipts (NOA) from USCIS, also the Biometrics Appointment letter (Appointment date: Jun 18) 
  • (Day 33) Jun 18 2018 - Arrived Helena ASC at 9.15am (Appointment at 10am), finished at 9.35am (Yea it was super quick!)
  • (Day 35) Jun 20 2018 - Received SMS & Email notification request for evidence for my I-485
