I was doing some reading and one of my concerns is school next year for Aira and AJ.  I read on the NVC site that they do consider the start of school as a reason to expedite the CR-1.  I plan on filing this month and school in the Philippines starts in June.  It would be great if we can get expedited to have them here before next June.  Has anyone tried to expedite at NVC?

I have seen a few get expedites from NVC, some fairly recently.

Do note that if you get the expedite that NVC won't schedule your interview, you will do that by calling USEM once the case file has arrived.

I hadn't thought that far ahead but that is what we did for the K-1.  At some point I will look farther into the different process.

One of my main concerns was school for the kids.  Where they go (private) the tuition (75,000 php) is paid in full before school starts.  I am hoping to avoid paying for next year since even a worse case scenario would not stall us past the end of next year's school year (I hope).

With the K-1 you scheduled online .. this time you call after your case file has arrived.

I will request the expedite and I am hoping since we only need a few months it will be approved.  They will still have 9 or 10 months for review before tuition is due.

When my step son immigrated to the USA in Dec 2014 we took him to the County School District office and he was tested and interviewed where upon he was assigned to a school and grade. He was held back one grade but for us we felt it was necessary. He has been on the A/B Honor Roll for the past 3 years. He transitioned so well and has so many friends that he hangs with. We have not had any problems except sometimes he is on Filipino time and he had to figure this out really fast or walk to school. :jest:

Just wanted to add this to your consideration and your nerves Mom.

I don't know what the process is like now but when I was working on getting my wife and step son here almost 2 years ago I was calling NVC every week for 6 weeks to check for status updates  and they kept telling me they didn't have the files yet so I called my Congressman's office and about a week later my wife and step son's cases were approved. Might be something to try if NVC is dragging their feet.
