K-1 Waiting for Packet 3: What Next?

Hi, so I'm aware that there are similar threads floating around, but they haven't really helped me much, so I hope it's okay to make one of my own so I can know specifically what to do. 

 

My K-1 petition was approved in late May, and the status on the CEAC site went from READY to Administrative Processing, which from what I've been able to gather is pretty standard before receiving packet 3. It's been at the embassy since the mid June, so I would expect packet 3 to come soon. 

 

What are my next steps? I've filled out the DS-160. Is it time for me to fill out the Affidavit of Support? 

 

My fiance currently has gotten his notarized police certificate and is working on getting the birth certificate. I know he'll have a medical exam. 

 

I understand that in China, you shouldn't schedule an interview until you return what is requested in packet 3. What all information would that be? What is the proper order of the steps I should take? Is there anything I need to prepare before packet 3?

You can fill out the Affidavit of support now, yes. 

After the consulate receives your fiance's package 3 documents, they will send you email which is called package 4 , saying that you can pay the visa fee and schedule an interview. After interview is scheduled, your fiance can go for a medical exam with printed P4 email and interview confirmation page, meanwhile he should collect all the materials required for the interview too.
