Incorrect.
Biometrics are NOT done at your local office

They are done at ASC (Application Support Centers)

I see you already had ur AOS interview- if you check the address for ur local office and where u did biometrics, u will see that they were not the same place.

ASCs are never (rarely) backed up since literally all they do is fingerprinting services- and as almost everyone knows, it takes 5-20 mins to be in and outta there.

And most people are sent to the ASC close to them- not necessarily the one in their local city.
There are usually multiple ASCs per city whereas each city ONLY has one local office (am not counting the big places like LA). Some smaller states might even only even get one local office but might have 2-3 ASC offices

emekus94 - The tone of your posts read as a little condescending and accusatory. This is an incredibly complex process that we are all trying to navigate. Let's try to keep this forum as supportive and positive as possible.

Am not trying to be condescending

I am trying to be clear BECAUSE of the complexity of the process

Too many times we have had people come on here panicking for no good reason because of misinformation

I can sit back and let the misinformation slide but I am trying to emphasize some points so people don't feel unnecessarily stressed on issues that are not meant to cause stress.

Saying People's EADs are delayed because of their local office is simply incorrect. Short and simple

Local office has absolutely nothing to do with it.

I was in Houston for while that is barely processing April 2017 files and did my bio metrics just fine along with people from faster offices.
and some folks in the Houston office already their EADs but have quite a while to go to get GC.

Someone might come on here tomorrow and read that and freak out. Am trying to make sure that people know what is what.

EAD is NBC-- that's an average of 4-6 months for everybody
AOS is local office- that's all over the place

I think both efforts - clarity in a respectful and supportive manner - are possible.

I have always tried to be clear and respectful and supportive of everyone on this forum because we're all going through the same struggles.

scroll through the last 82 pages of this forum alone and you can see that.

For the sake of not having this "drag" on for too long and spamming people with these posts- I'll quit replying now

And respectively take into consideration your comments.

Thanks!

I want to make something as clear as possible in a respectful and supportive manner:

@emekus94 has been a cheerleader for so many of us who frequent this thread. They tried kindly to explain to the person who came in with misinformation, and why they were wrong.

We have all been waiting, and there are quite a few of us who have been here since before we even submitted our K-1 paperwork. The process is hard and the wait is annoying. We all know that.

However, telling someone they were rude because they clarified information that could be misleading to another person or cause someone to panic later down the road because they've hit a snag in the process isn't a very cool thing to do.

They were trying to help and explain to people that it has nothing to do with your local office - which is true. For the EAD/AP, it has everything to do with NBC and nothing to do with how your local field office is handling your paperwork.

I am not sure why that was so controversial, but it is the truth, and they weren't in the wrong for spelling it out for the next sucker who comes in this thread looking for help from those of us who have actual information.

What a good day! Received combo card in the post, then out of nowhere got the interview letter for our green card today. 7th November. however we’re away for one week in a vegas so we’ve submitted for a different day! So much for a months notice 😂😂

Congratulations!! Just wanted to ask if you had your SSN delivered yet too? If you ticked the box to get one on the i-485? I'm wondering how long I might have to wait for this 😬 thanks

Congratulations!  My wife and step-daugher had their interviews the day after yours on 10/23.  Still waiting for their online status to change from "Interview complete, case must be reviewed."  I wish the Baltimore office was as quick as yours!  Congratulations again!!! - Jason

I already had a SSN from working here for the past 2 years on and off . Didn’t need to apply again. I changed my status when i arrived after POE, changed my name after marriage and i’ll go back and change status after green card in hand.
