Hey everyone,

So I’ve got a few questions, if anyone can help I’d appreciate it!

1. How do we apply for an expedited EAD? We’ve already submitted our application and habe our NOA1, but my husband just got a job offer. What are our options?

2. What’s an infopass?

3. How do we know what office is processing our case? All 3 of our NOA1s say the national office. Aren’t they supposed to transfer our cases to a local office near us? If so, how do we know which one?

4. I saw someone mention an SLC office. What’s that?

Sorry for all the questions lately but this process is a lot for convoluted than the K1 and I just want to make sure I’m not missing out on any information. I stalk the USCIS website but it’s hard when you don’t necessarily know exactly what you’re lookin for.

Thanks!

1) u can check on VJ how people have expedited (i.e. which number to call/address to mail/number to fax). It consists of gathering the documents (most likely a job offer) and showing proof of hardship, etc that requires that expedite

2) Infopass is an opportunity to make an inquiry on ur case with the local office. It seems better than calling a general USCIS line and hoping they know what's up.
3/4) along with 2 above, your local office is determined based on zipcode.
go here: https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/find-uscis-office/field-offices
Type in zipcode and it tells you the local office. That same office is where you can make an appt for an infopass. Keep in mind not every office offers an infopass and some are booked weeeeeekkksss in advance

All cases start at NBC. They only transfer to your local office when they finish reviewing it and see no need for RFEs, etc.

SLC is Salt Lake City- that's one of the local offices for those in Utah

I don't understand what you mean
What is USCIS accepting?

Are u saying you never did a Form I-765 to begin with?

But will get an RFE for I-485?
and if you get an RFE for I-485, can you submit I-765 then?

I never did a Form I-765.

I got a RFE for my 485, something was  wrong with it.

And my question is when I resubmit the 485 can i include 785 without paying fee?

Thank you

Can my wife get a ssn in her maiden name even after marriage? And then change it to her married name after she gets her green card?

I did my SSN 6 weeks after our wedding (I still had 17 days left on I-94) and it was issued in my Maiden name - as my visa, passport etc was in that name and they wouldn't use marriage cert to put it new name. I was advised that it had to match visa. My application was filled out with married name.

IS it just me or is waiting for mail from USICS painful - I have been issued and RFE (which I think I know what it may be as we forgot my husbands proof of residency with the I-864) and know it will likely be next week before the letter gets here to confirm what the issue is but I still hope everyday it has arrived

I guess I'll keep on trying to get the SSA to issue one in her married name. Is there anyway her martial status will change in the DoS before EAD?

Have you guys submitted AOS already.?

I wasnt able to get SSN I am now waiting for EAD to have SSN since I checked the box in order for them (USCIS) to give me SSN.

i was wondering if I can go to SSA if they can give SSN to me tho I already have a request through my EAD. application.

No that’s going to complicate your case as you can’t have two SS numbers. You now just have to wait.

Ahh
I am like 95% sure that when you respond to an RFE, you cannot just submit things that were not part of the original application.
But @geowrian

Correct me if am wrong but @batcher cannot submit I-765 now AFTER he originally submitted his I-485 correct?
