Can my wife get a ssn in her maiden name even after marriage? And then change it to her married name after she gets her green card?

Have you guys already gotten married? This is important, because you really should have got her SS card before then. It's much easier.

After she's married then she can't use her maiden name anymore..  I mean unless she files aos in her maiden name instead of married name..

But I don't see the point of getting in it maiden name if she wants it in her married name anyway. Sounds like too much hassle .

I got married first and got my ssn few days later in my married name.

The SSA may only bed willing to issue it in her maiden name since that's what her documentation has.

Although why not get it in the married name if they let her (they are supposed to, but some SSA employees will refuse to budge...it took my wife 3 visits to get someone to do it).

One must still either have at least 14 days of legal status, a valid EAD, or a green card to apply, though. If you go beyond the first 76 days after entry on the K-1, then you will need the EAD or green card.

@batcher,it seems that you have the clock to watch out for then
If you have hit 76 days since entry (doesn't seem to apply to you), then you gotta wait for that EAD.

@emekus94 Will Uscis accept it if I send I-765 with form I-485? I mean when I resend it cause of a RFE, to avoid paying for it?

I don't understand what you mean
What is USCIS accepting?

Are u saying you never did a Form I-765 to begin with?

But will get an RFE for I-485?
and if you get an RFE for I-485, can you submit I-765 then?

Hey all,

Received my NOA1 in the post today, I put on my application for EAD a6 by mistake, my NOA1 says C9 SO I'm guessing they changed it.... anyone else had this?

We did the same thing and our NOA1 came back with c9. So they fixed it for us. Rekindled my faith in USCIS lol a little lol one less thing we have to worry about.
