Hello! I'm filling out my application now for the K1 visa, to say I'm overwhelmed is a bit of an understatement.

I am wondering what advice would be best for me at this stage?

Also, curious how much and what types of documentation I should provide to describe how we have met and the time we have spent together?

I also am wondering about getting a work permit for my partner, does that need to be submitted at the same time as the K1? I don't know much about that bit.

Thanks!

Read the following link. Lots of great/useful information. As far as work permit, you won't be able to file for that until your fiancee is here and you are married. Once you are married, then you will file for Adjustment of Status/EAD/AP. EAD will be your fiancees work permit and AP will allow them back into the US if they leave the country. Take 3-6 months for those and 12 months for the 2 year green card

Depending on the country of your fiance, that can help determine exactly how to assemble the I-129f petition packet. Whether as to how much information is suggested, if front loading is needed, ect.

What country is your fiance from?

He is from Morocco.

Things will be a bit more difficult from Morocco. It's a higher risk country. Make sure to have lots of face time and front load your petition with as much proof as possible.

What does "front load" mean?

I'm 9 years older and we are from different religions. :(  The other situations do not apply though...so I guess it could be worse.

We met when I was on holiday in Morocco in 2016 and hung out for 2 days.

Chatted everyday for 7 months, then we met up in Turkey for about 2 weeks.

Continued chatting everyday and I went back to morocco for another 2 weeks in Jan of this year.

Still not officially engaged. I'm planning to go back to Morocco again in September for another couple of weeks.

Are there any good forums for high fraud country K1 visa applications?

If you go up top of this page you'll see "Portals", click that and it will take you to the Morocco forum with country specific topics and threads.

Any case can be successful if you just prepare for it. Front loading means basically giving as much evidence of relationship and meeting and such in the initial petition. Some countries don't need it but the 'high fraud' countries it is highly recommended.

There is a search bar here on the top right corner of the page, can search things like "front loading petitions" and you'll find a lot of threads talking about it and how people have done it. That should help get you some useful information so you can prepare the packet properly.

Keep record of all tickets, all boarding passes, any receipts, hotel invoices, any  pictures you both took together in Morocco and in Turkey. Photos with his friends with dates and write explanation on each one where its taken.

Are  you planning on meeting his family? Take photos with them

As far as getting engaged in  Morocco I don't know how this work out and if it is considered as a part of a wedding ceremony  or not. Maybe someone can shed some light on this since it might be questioned at the interview?????

But, keep any receipts for anything such as a ring, gifts etc...

This is all kind of depressing.

I naively assumed it was going to be much simpler than I think it will be now.

Is it worth getting a lawyer for this K1? Although, I don't really want to spend the money on the lawyer. I'd much rather spend my time reading on here.

With just some research here on JV you can do it all on your own honestly. You have all the information already, all a lawyer would do is fill out forms and mail them for you. They will have no legal standing or influence on the US embassy in Morocco.

It's good you're going into this process with knowledge rather than finding out later on during it. Again some reading here of others experiences and how they made their petition will help you in the long run.

Which way, either fiance visa(k-1) or spousal (CR-1), is entirely up to you. Each has it's own pro's and con's. Neither is guaranteed. Nothing in immigration is guaranteed; but the "obstacles" can be overcome with good preparation on your part.
