Documents for Interview

Hello,

My fiance has his interview appointment on July 25th (his medical is July 19). I am going over everything and have some questions about the documents he must have. I just don't know if I should provide so much superfluous information, you know?

1) Evidence of my domicile: my address is on my W2s and all the other necessary financial documents. I think that's pretty official. Do I need anything else?

2) Packet three says "two recent photographs." Does this mean regular photographs, or passport-style? He is already bringing several passport-style for the interview/medical, and we are also providing five pictures for our evidence of continued relationship. Not sure why they would need anything else?

3) Appointment letter: I made the appointment for him but I did it on my phone, so all I have is a screenshot of the confirmation. It includes his name, passport number, case number, PIN, payment method, amount paid, and transaction date as well as Consulate information. Is that acceptable?

4) Letter of intent to marry: I have been reading reviews for Montreal and several people have said they provided a letter of intent from both the beneficiary and the petitioner. I thought only a letter from the petitioner was necessary. Do we need both?

5) IRS transcript: I requested both the "account transcript" and the "return transcript," but which do I need? All I'm seeing on VJ is "tax transcript."

Thanks so much!

1) I brought my fiancé’s bills from the county (electricity, water, etc.). They didn’t even ask to see any evidence of domicile.

2) US passport photographs. 2” x 2”. For Montreal, I had to bring 5 to the medical and 2 to the interview so I got 7 altogether within 30 days of both my medical and interview.

3) I printed out the email confirmation. I highlighted the appointment time and the amount paid. That sufficed.

4) I brought a letter of intent from both myself (beneficiary) and my fiancé (petitioner). They didn’t care about mine. They did care about his.

5) Bring both of you can. I brought a copy of his tax return.

Many people say Montreal is very strict concerning domicile.  You might want to include things like driver's license, bank account info, utility bills, etc. if you have them.

If you're residing in the USA and have pay stubs, and your tax return has the current address you don't need to provide extra evidence.  It's when those items aren't US based you end up having to show other things.

1) no.

2) passport style photos.  5cm x 5cm or 2"x2"

3) he can sign into the account and print this himself

4) both are required

5) tax return transcript

Hello there,

This is not related to your topic, but I was just wondering when the NVC approved your documents and when you received your interview letter?

Thanks,

OP is K1.  NVC doesn't do anything for K1 beyond assigning their DOS number.

Well my bank account info is going to be on the required statement of balance and deposits so that's covered. I'll make a copy of my driver's license. Good idea!

Hi,

They received my petition on June 16 2017. I received my approval notice December 14 2017. After that it was up to him to send in the packets and schedule the interview. We originally got one for May but had to reschedule to July.

Can I add one thing that tripped us up at the interview was photocopy versus original. I was divorced and had provided a certified copy of my divorce certificate in the application, but my wife had a copy for the interview. This delayed us a few weeks.Whenever possible, be sure to have original, certified documents.

So for the I-134 support form packet 3 just states supporting documents. Now that is very vague I've heard many different things of what to have. I've got my fiances last 3 years worth of W2s, IRS returns banking documents from the past year and average balance information. We've also got pay stubs from his employer as well. I've read somewhere you need a job letter too which is stressing me out because we are close and we would have to rush to get it. Is it mandatory or does the evidence I have work? Packet 3 really doesn't specify what is needed.

Also the I-134 question 38 - to confirm we leave it blank and in the additional notes state N/A (K1 visa process) something along those lines right? Or am I totally wrong!?

Thanks so much for this community ❤️

They only care about the most recent W2s. I did get a letter of employment from my boss but I can't remember whether or not they actually wanted it. We had so much stuff compiled and they only looked at some of it.

for question 38 on the I-134 you check you INTEND to make contributions and then describe what in the notes and indicate the part which you are adding additional information for properly. I wrote something like "rent, food, travel, etc until he is legally allowed to work."

For questions like this I would recommend starting your own thread!!!!! Only a few people will see if you put it in a comment!
