Hello all,

My fiance & I's K-1 petition has been received by the Riyadh embassy today, and we have a question about the police clearance instructions.

The instructions state: "A Saudi Police Certificate is required for all applicants over 16 years of age. In order to obtain the police certificate for immigration purposes, applicants will need to obtain a letter addressed to the Saudi authorities from the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh or U.S. Consulates General in Dhahran or Jeddah."

We are unsure as to whether or not these instructions are saying to obtain the letter FROM the consulate/embassy or address the letter TO the consulate/embassy. If anyone could clarify this for us, we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

Looks like it is saying that the Saudi authorities want a letter from the embassy requesting the police record. An individual may not be able to go in and request their own record without there being a need for it.

And we are also unclear as to where to get this letter from. My fiance holds a Somali passport. Does he go to the Somali embassy & get the letter from there to take to the Jeddah consulate? Any assistance would be great. Thanks again.

Right, but were unclear on where to obtain this letter from? Is from the American embassy or the embassy where the beneficiary holds nationality? Thanks for you reply.

Hello. Am from Philippines We also filed k1 visa in Riyadh  I got my Endorsement letter from Ph Embassy with Police Clearance already and i was still in doubt so i email the US Embassy in Riyadh @ RiyadhIV@state.gov or check on their official site.  got my appointment for Endorsement letter and I informed them that I already have a Police Clearance (from Ph Embassy endorsement) the officer told me they will accept but better to get a letter from them too to be safe that was his advice.  so i started all over again. Plus in my case since am a filipino and from Ph during my interview they were asking for my Philippine police clearance(NBI).. Hope this can help.
