All,

I have submitted the requested documents under 221(g). I am a permanent resident and my wife will be coming on F2A visa. Please share your experiences on how long will it take after the documents have been submitted. Please share the average time if possible.

Thanks,

geowrian thanks for the immediate response. They asked for a Translation of the Marriage Certificate and an a co-sponsor. They missed looking at my 2017 income and the newly produced Affidavit of Support based on that income. They thought I need a co-sponser based on the documents I submitted 2 years ago to NVC where the income was very low. My wife had the new Affidavit of Support with all the proofs of the new income but they declined to look at it thinking that it is the one already in file.

While I sent a translation of the Marriage certificate, I did not sent a co-sponsor doc but send my new 2017 affidavit of support with a note  that my income is far higher than the required and that I don't need a co-sponsor. I also produced my latest 2017 tax transcripts and my W2s for 2017 and the Job offer letter.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

Greatly appreciated,

Hamid

how could anyone submit an average time? everyone would only know their own case which would depend both on their documents and the embassy. We had to wait a week, but I would be surprised if submitting a missing local police certificate in Johannesburg is exactly the same as a bunch of financial documents in (Islamabad? you didn't specify the embassy).

When they finished reviewing your support documents, they will change the status from Refused to Administrative processing, then Issued.

However, we do not know how long of the process. Some cases have waiting time in 1-2 weeks, or 1-3 months or longer.

You should email the Consular to ask your case status if you waited too long.

If the missing document is related to sponsor, it would not be a problem.

P/S: One big tip to avoid delay in reviewing support documents after the interview is never submitting documents multiple times.

You guys should collect ALL the required documents and submit them ALL at the SAME time.

Your docs will be lost and the Consular will put your docs aside, and will not look at it until they think you submitted all the documents.
