I use to run a manufacturing plant, and the owner wanted to hire them. Back then use just needed to forms of ID for the I-9 file and were under no requirement to verify or responsible if they were illegal. I saw more 23 year old 50 year old and dead people working than you can imagine. One year we got request to verify 12 employees at one time. They had X number of days to show up at the social security office to remain employed. All 12 got gone
