Local cemetery-dwellers can use their death certificates, so why not?  Let's be consistent.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

But to do so would be racist, bigoted, and exclusionary.

How? Everyone knows voting is only for citizens. How dumb can this get?

This is America, Sweetie.  Pretty darn dumb...

There exists a group of citizens whom believe that only citizens vote, and to suggest otherwise means one must wear a tinfoil hat on a regular basis.

There also exists a group who realizes just about any legal rule can be overcome/worked around.  These people recognize that illegal voting happens.

Well I know, but as a foreigner I always get hate from people if I am the one saying America is dumb...

Everyone know they happen, but they shouldn't and no one seem to be interested in an overhaul of the system where you actually have to prove to the polling place that you are who you say you are and that you're actually eligible to vote.

Oh, PLENTY of people want a reform.  But if you bring it up, the left usually shoots it down as “not an issue” because it “has never affected the outcome of any election”.    Personally, I’d prefer to stay ahead of it and combat it at every step.  When dead people are voting, it is a HUGE issue to me.

My spouse is a foreigner.  She says what she feels about our country.  Not all of it I agree with, but that is her right.  Yours too.  Especially if/when you become a USC.

And you've had this problem for years and years and year and you guys still haven't done anything about it.

I know it's my right and I forget that it is more acceptable to voice your own opinions in these parts of the forum. In other parts you're told to "go home to your own country" if you express that something isn't great.

Hey, you could do without going to a polling station. Just vote by mail and you won't need identification. There are many things to concerned about in this country, voting from the cemetery is probably not that high on the list.

Besides we all know perfectly well that concerns about voting illegally has nothing to do with the practice, and everything to do with helping spread the fiction that the Democratics are trying to steal elections away from good hard working Americans, and give illegal everything they owe. Identity politics at its worst.

Oh, I’d tell you the same thing, if you complained all the time about how miserable things are in the country which you chose to immigrate to. :)

But you don’t do that.  You argue logically and with reason.  Nothing wrong with that, as there is always room for improvement.

The problem has existed for years, and probably always will, because the left feels it is discriminatory to require voter ID.  Yet we have to have an ID for SO MANY other things, such as driving, buying a car, opening a bank account, getting married, buying alcohol & cigarettes... and the list goes on.  But if an ID was required, it would put the kibosh on a pretty big loophole, in my opinion.

You need a Drivers License for driving a car

I certainly did not need it for buying a car.

I do not buy cigarettes and do not need it for alcohol.

If you buy from a dealer you need a valid form of ID to verify your identity. Doesn't need to be a DL of course. Use your passport if you want. If you are test driving most dealers will want your DL for insurance purposes.

Not buying something does not preclude hot eneed for an ID to do so.

Are you saying you can go to a car dealer and buy a car without an ID?
