It is hit or miss. When your fiancé goes through immigration, they will know that he/she plans to immigrate to the U.S.

Therefore he/she will have the burden of proving non-immigrant intent. Your fiancé is may be denied entry. It is better for the USC to make visits after you have started the I129F process.

Can anyone tell me if I can still visit my fiance in the US (or can he come to the UK) once the I-129F has been received by the USCIS Service Centre in Nebraska or must we wait until the whole Visa process is complete?

I went to visit my Fiance and I had my boss write me a letter telling them that she expected me back. And a return ticket is good as well to let them know that you are planning to return.

im flying to TX in June, we have just filed for the K1. i have posted the same question and got some good advise. show you have a return ticket, any ties that show you have house/rent, work. i am also bringing the ticket of my SO for when he is coming in July and my boss is writing a letter for me. my problem is that i have a live-in job, i have no bills at all . (which is nice but not in this case) so i bring my contract where it show my live-in status.

it is always a risk, but one im willing to take!

My fiance (from the UK as well) visited a few weeks ago. He brought a letter from his Uni and a letter from his employer with the date expected back. He came in through chicago and wasn;t asked for anything. He actually had less questions this time than when we were just dating. However they can ask you lots of questions, so be prepared.

The answer is yes, you're allowed, but it's completely up to the particular agent you speak with at your POE.

Border Patrol is concerned that you are going to:

A: just stay here forever

B: work

C: you're entering on a lie with the intent to do A or B

So, anything that will disprove those things is good. Adam lives in England and each time he comes, they question how he can afford to visit so often and for so long, so bank account info/employment info also helps with that (letter from parents acknowledging gift of airfare if that's the case). Basically, you're not dealing drugs to get money to come here and be on vacation for so long!

For A: your return ticket, copy of mortgage/lease agreement, letter from landlord (helpful to put in that you have pre-paid your lease/mortgage till ((however long your visit will last)), copy of car loan paperwork, letter from employer indicating you are currently working/will be getting your job back once you return on X date, bank account statements, any other ongoing financial obligations you can prove you have.

B: I think the best thing for this is something from the US citizen indicating they can support the visitor during the visit. The best I've come up with on this is simply a letter indicating I own my home and Adam will be residing with me for his stay, and is not required to contribute to my bills/mortgage. (although, my worrywart side tells me this may actually work against me, because then it looks like Adam can just stay forever illegally because he doesn't have to work!)

C: I say this because Adam got interrogated last time he arrived (for a 3 month visit) about whether he knew me or not. They asked him to describe me, read through our emails on his laptop, and even called ME at work to ask if I knew him and what our relationship is! So, I think it's best to have a photo of you two together and short letter from the US citizen indicating yes, this is your fiance(e)/boyfriend. Can't hurt, right?

I read in another post through a link to a customs website that a valid reason to let someone in is to renew the relationship, plan the wedding, meet the family, etc. So, I think in the letter from the US Citizen, it wouldn't hurt to say that that's what the visit is for: making plans for the wedding and to renew the bonds between you.

Of course, it all comes down to that person you talk to. You could sail through without getting a second look, or get interrogated for an hour (like poor Adam last time).

One thing to bear in mind is a denial of entry has NO bearing on your visa process.

Always be honest, always.

Michele

Also, don't they have pre-clearance in the UK? So, even if denied, he would at least still be in the UK, and not have to try to get a new flight home, etc.

I would recommend reading what I wrote on this issue after my fiancée visited me. I won't make any promises, but if you follow what we did, you should be fine. As unbelievable as this might sound, USCIS do have hearts, and they do care. That being said, you need to be honest. I am sure you'll have no problems.

Just be informed, follow my advice (and others), be prepared, and be nice. Smile at the officer, it may make his or her day.

I've probably repeated this too many times for our regulars, but I was able to visit my fiance in the States while our petition was processing. I had a letter from my employer, my schedule for the summer semester in school, and my itinerary for the trip, which all showed intent to return to Vancouver.

Mind, the officer at YVR just asked me a bunch of questions when I mentioned that I was visiting my fiance, and looked at my passport and the itinerary - he didn't ask to see anything else, even though I had it.

As Ephesus said, make an informed decision based on advice given here and other places, and decide if it's worth the potential hassle for either of you. (And I definitely agree that keeping a positive attitude at immigration will definitely help - it sucks to travel these days, but it sucks for the officers who have to endure that same grouchiness person after person!)

i have also read somewhere that a letter from the USC stating you are coming over to plan the wedding is something valid/helpful..

maybe someone else can tell you (and me!) more about that.

no you dont need it, as you are filing for a visa where the fiance moves to the US. you are not moving to holland. they are afraid he would stay if he came to visit you.
