On a side note - My wife is going through ROC now and paid the bio fee. Got a letter saying they are waiving the bio and will use the one from AOS. No refund of course. Ask USCIS if they can apply our funds to your case :)

Ugh, we called in and they said I need to wait for the package to come back and re-submitt. Sigh. We would have included the bio fee, it was just those lines confused us. Thanks for sharing the experience. One positive thing though, we asked if we would be put to the back of the line when we re-submit, they said no, since we already have a case with them. Hopefully it doesn't cause too much delay.

Hi, just wondering if anyone has the same experience. we submitted our application for I130 and I485 (I131, I765 also). I knew we had to pay the 85$ for biometric, but in the form I485 instructions, it says we only have to pay if we're required to go in for the biometric appointment and we can pay at the time of appointment. Thats why I didn't include the 85$ fee. However, USCIS rejected our whole package and sending the whole package back because of just that wrong fee (which is not supposed to be wrong because I did exactly what they instructed on the form). Now It is causing us another 15-20 days delay because we have to wait for the original package to come back before we can correct the mistake.

I’m sorry, I know how you feel. My I-485 was rejected on Friday June 20. When I check online it stated that my case I-485 has been rejected because it was not file correctly.... I have no idea what that means. It has been 9 days and still haven’t received the return package. I’m so tired of waiting😢 but what else can I do

My dear you read wrong everything must be sent in correctly and the fee has to be send in along withci130 fee.

It is very clear on the instructions sheet that they all applicable fees paid. Please ensure u send in the fees correctly and present the package, it was rejected you just left out an important fee.

I did exactly the same, misread and got caught up in all the instructions and didn't include the $85. We had to resubmit months later for financial reasons but once we sent it off, everything ran smoothly. I know nobody wants delays but you'll be okay!

How soon did you receive your package after it was rejected?

Thank you CatP. I know delays are expected but I spent a lot of time doing the application so I thought there was no way I'd make such obvious mistake. And looks like our application will be put to the back of the line when we submit again based on your timeline, sigh. I thought we'd get some priority since we already have a case with USCIS after rejection. But it doesn't seem to be the case. Do you know if they also looked through our entire application or maybe just saw the fee and rejected the application right away? I'm just worrying if the latter is the case, it'd be bad since what if they reject again when I re-submit for some other reasons....

I haven't which is really sad. I called and asked can I just send in a check, they said no have to wait for the package to arrive. Sigh.

Yeah, We asked them if our case when resubmitting will get any priority regarding the first stage (getting the receipt notice), they said yes because we will already have a case with them and we just put the green slip on top , but reading CatP's timeline doesn't seem to be the case.

I was told when I called USCIS that my forms were already on file, that they were just waiting for a correct fee to continue.

My case is different because when we received the application back, we had to use the money for other things and did not make the fees again til March. So I'm not the best example.

Yeah, thank you for the advice. Will do. Just the thought of having to go through the same waiting time is just not helping.

Sorry to say it, but, you’re in for a long wait. Just like 99% of us. Did you ever find the instructions that stated you could pay for the biometric when you had it done?

I found out why I got confused. Because every form has a Biometric fee part, I read each form like 10 times and did exactly what I was instructed. Apparently that specific lines in the instructions are not what we should have followed. I understand and expect that things take time, a long time. But this makes me feel disappointed (about the situation) because I really spent a lot a lot of time reading the instructions line by line, and sending an incorrect fee is one of the very obvious mistakes I was thinking I could not make. It'd have been nice if USCIS allowed me to just send an updated check.
