We are preparing to submit our ROC package. We are submitting all the regular proof (joint rent leases, monthly statements of every bank account and credit card we own, photos, etc...) but my questions are about what constitutes proof enough of insurances. Getting a simple letter stating the policy and beneficiaries has been almost impossible to get! My HR department has been helping me try to get this stuff by contacting our insurance companies, but for the most part we've gotten little good news.

Below is what we have, along with some questions. I would appreciate suggestions and confirmation of what is/isn't enough!

  • Health Insurance: This is the only one I'm mostly sure that it's all good enough
    1. "Verification of Coverage Letter" which I pulled online from our account. It states both our names and the effective date that coverage started. It doesn't specifically say "it's still active/ongoing", but at the top it has the current date.
    2. "Coverage Overview", also pulled online from our insurance portal: It starts by saying "This table shows an overview of your coverage and who is covered by your plan" and then it has both our names, DOB, Group Number and ID number for the policy, as well as effective date of coverage.

    3. Forms 1095-C for 2016 and 2017 provided by the insurance, showing that we were covered since the effective date mentioned above.

  • Dental Insurance: Insurance contact said they can't help us, so I printed from our online portal a page that says "Your Dental Benefits - Family Summary" with both our names, effective dates and a few other coverage details.

  • Life Insurance: The insurance contact again told us she can't give us anything. My HR department printed this document that details the policy, and everything except my beneficiary!! So she made a copy of my original submission form where I added my husband as beneficiary, and it's signed by me and can ask her to sign it too, but I worry that USCIS might say "oh well it doesn't prove he actually got added"... or is my employer's signature enough to show it was submitted?

  • Cancer Insurance: They sent us a letter "Verification of Cancer Plan Coverage" It says effective date, still active and all the pertinent information including my husband's name as dependent covered.

My HR employee also made copies of all my submission forms of all the insurances, showing that I added my husband in all of them, but my worry from above still stands. For dental and medical, our insurance cards have only my name on them since I'm the policy holder, so that's no good.

My husband started working recently and he has me on his life insurance, (the rest we just use my policies) but he also only gets a rickety online printout and a copy of his submission form with my name on it.

Bottom line question is: If this evidence isn't enough proof of coverage, should I provide it at all? My worry is that if USCIS sees it and thinks it's not enough, they'll request extra evidence about the policies and I won't have more, because the insurance companies have already told me that's all they can do for me.

Thanks!
