If your GC is still valid you can use it to travel. (travel means leave and enter under the same documents validity)

If your GC is expired you need to present it along with a NOA from ROC.

If you do not have a NOA you need to go to infopass and obtain a 551 stamp. Note- they may give you a hard time about getting a stamp. Bring proof of travel. IF YOUR ROC has NOT BEEN PROCESSED YET- they will NOT give you a stamp. You can only get a stamp after your case is accepted and a NOA is generated with the case #. So if you are on top of it you may discover your case was approved and a NOA sent out and be able to go to infopass where they will see the NOA is in the mail and explain/prove you have travel pending and need the stamp and cant wait for the mail. (even then they can be nasty and say no stamp-wait for mail)

@Damara thank you for the valuable feedback.

My travel is all domestic, do you think that I still need to get the infopass appointment to get the stamp?  The reason I ask this is that you are right there is a higher probability that they will not stamp it keeping in mind the current immigration reform scenario going wild these days. I have no intentions of going out of the country and even travel domestic via plane but it is work obligations that I can't control.

Is there any time period say 60 days after which I can contact USCIS to provide an update on why I haven't received the NOA? If yes, is there any number or email?

To travel domestically you need a valid ID. An expired card is not considered valid ID.

Some states have DL that expire when the GC does so you need the NOA to renew your license. Not sure if that is your case. You can also use your unexpired foreign passport. Are you traveling to any border towns? Anywhere with ICE presence? Without the NOA or stamp you have no proof of status.

After 30 days you should be able to see if the check/money order was cashed. If it was and you still do not have the NOA you can call the USCIS 800 number and ask when it was sent. They have a way of sending a duplicate however they are not always easy to convince to get them to mail one out. Its easier to get a stamp sometimes then a duplicate notice. If they check isnt cashed after 30 days you have to consider it was lost or possibly being returned. Wait and see before you panic.

@Damarathank you for the detailed response.

I do have an unexpired state ID  and unexpired foreign passport and I intend to use only the state ID for the domestic travel.  The problem that I see from your comment as well is that I will be travelling to Texas from Detroit and both of these are bordering states. I have an alert set up for the check to be cashed from my bank account and it hasn't been cashed for full 3 weeks now. I am hoping that it gets cashed, all I can say and hope.

@Russ&Carothank you so much for the information! I just created the account but it is asking for a receipt number from USCIS which I don't have to see any updates. Do you know any other information that I might be missing in order to find out the case status? Thank you again for pointing out the need for the account and I have created one!

You might search for your receipt number from the NOA of your CR1 or AOS or K1 applications. Look through the old NOA letter(s) you received from USCIS.

Here is a picture of where you find the receipt number on your NOA...

@Russ&Carothank you for the details.

I looked it up with my previous notice and I am attaching the screenshots. It seems like they didn't even update that I actually got to the USA and it didn't say anything like that. I am confused after seeing this I guess, can you help why is it showing like that? I actually entered the USA in August of 2016.

Ahh cool, you got into your account. So your ROC application should appear at this site once the NOA is processed. It would appear that it hasn't yet been processed which means your concerns are valid.

You're correct that you're not going to receive much info on past cases. USCIS seems to be using this portal for communications extensively over the last year for new applications. Old cases aren't really updated.
