My husband’s interview is in August and our marriage will be 2 years in October. I want him to wait till after our anniversary so he can get 10yr GC but his police report will expire in September. Will he need to get a new police report and hand carry it to US immigration? What will be proper? Thanks

Its based on the date he arrives in the US, not on the interview date.

Am sorry I do not understand. I want him to wait until the marriage is two years before crossing into US but him waiting will cause his police report to expire ( September) after the visa has been issued.  His medical will still be valid. Does he then need a new police report before coming to the US or the police report is only for the interview?

His police report needs to be valid for the interview not entry to the USA.  As long as his medical is less than 6 months old in Oct, crossing at that time will not be a problem.

Police Character Certificate for US immigration purposes has 1year validity.

So,it depends on the when he had it done.

He had it done in March 2018 and Validity of six months from date of issue was written on it. Even with that, does it mean it’s for 1 year

Yea. Since he got it done in March 2018,it's going to expire in March 2019.

It's valid for one calendar year. August 14th is your big day, goodluck to you both.

A couple people mentioned that police clearance reports are good for a year. That is not the case in Ghana where the reports are only valid for 6 months.

That said, OP your husband should be fine to use the original report for the interview. If for peace of mind you want to get a new one, do it.

At the consulate or embassy, generally speaking, they are valid for 1 year.  They may have a 6m expiration written on them.

In Canada they have no "expiration" and when I asked the police told me "they are valid for as long as the governing body asking for it deems it valid."

Regardless it only needs to be valid for interview not for POE.

Thank you! I was concerned about validity at POE.  Am glad to knew this will not  be an issue.
