Link to that? You can't just quote without showing the link as well.

Really? Where is it written?

Regardless of what Trump did or didn't say he wanted you claimed the restrictions that are actually are in place constitute a Muslim ban. They don't.

But those are candidate Donald Trump's words. I heard them come out of his mouth. That is what he said he intended to do. Or maybe I imagined all that and I am Tyler Durden.

If this makes folks happy, I found an article with the quote.

Trump Calls For 'Total And Complete Shutdown Of Muslims Entering' U.S.

That might be what he said but that's not what's in the executive order. I recommend searching for it and read it.

Thanks for the recommendation. I followed the topic with great detail and am aware if your point. Of course the first executive order was so so so embarrassingly  bad the Supreme court declined to take the case and it expired. Even this last one the supreme Court refused to bless and indicated how  disgusting  the idea  was, it just simply was within the executive power and left it to Congress.

My point in the quote is that the President says bigoted things and eventually gets it worked into public policy. That is disgusting to use another Trump quote.

Fact:

The president called for a ban on Muslims, he partially succeeded, this forum apparently supports him.

What part of it is disgusting? https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/executive-order-protecting-nation-foreign-terrorist-entry-united-states-2/

You still have to put the source of your quote when you're quoting even if it's not mentioned in the TOS. That is commons sense. Sorry.

And no, the forum doesn't support him. But many of the people (not me) who are in this part of the VJ forum does. But many of them don't. If you don't like it, it might be a good idea to stay on the other parts of the forum. Took me a while to get used to how people are here. it's a required taste. Don't get emotional, just discuss with logic and see things from both sides. "If someone gets emotional it's no longer a discussion, it's a train wreck" (quote from my English Professor)

There was nothing overly excited or emotional in my response. There is also no rule of common Sense that says well known quotes by public figures need citation. This is not a 7th grade book report.

It is still commons sense practice that if you are quoting someone especially while making a point in a discussion, that you provide a link.

A Dozen Times Trump Equated his Travel Ban with a Muslim Ban

https://www.cato.org/blog/dozen-times-trump-equated-travel-ban-muslim-ban

Last week, the Trump administration filed its merits brief in the Supreme Court case over his executive order suspending all travel and immigration from six African and Middle Eastern countries. On Twitter, President Trump has been insistent that the executive order is a “travel ban,” not some “politically correct term.” The statement shows that, while he is often difficult to understand, the president is actually very interested in how he brands his proposal. This fact matters because the constitutional case against the ban depends, in part, on Trump’s statements about it—specifically, the fact that he has repeatedly equated his current policy with his original proposal for a “Muslim ban.”

Beyond the lawsuit, however, it matters why the president has chosen to carry out certain proposals. If the president believes his travel ban will improve security by reducing Muslim immigration, then this is an important consideration for voters or anyone interested in influencing his policies in the future.

As bad as you want Trump's executive order to be considered a Muslim ban it is not. When you have a travel ban for nations totaling 8% of the world's Muslims (and some Christians, Jews, atheists, ect.) and 92% of Muslims live in a nation with no travel ban that is by definition not a Muslim ban. I know the left always chooses emotional arguments over math and fact based arguments so I understand your desire to make this something it is not.

You don't know me, my training, my background or what I always do so please avoid the personal analysis and attacks. Thank you.

I have not made an argument for or against the ban, I have pointed out that the President on many occasions has expressed a specific desire for a ban on Muslims entering the country and that these are his executive orders.
