84% of the respondents are in favor of illegal immigrants being reported to ICE

Even if a poll is severely skewed, that's a lot.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Here is the article: http://thehill.com/hilltv/rising/394624-mark-penn-84-percent-support-turning-undocumented-immigrants-over-authorities

I think he was a Democratic pollster.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

I wonder where his actual poll is (with its methods). The article you linked has him just paraphrasing the results.

I'm not questioning his results at all, just curious.

If there is something skewing it to a 84% (or whatever it is) response, the two major things would be population sampling (was their bias in who or where they contacted people), and in the actual language of the question. If you asked something like "Do you think reporting violent criminals to ICE would reduce or increase crime?" you would likely get many more in agreement. On the other hand, if you said "Do you think reporting non-violent criminals..." you would likely get the opposite. If you just said "criminals" I'm not sure which way it would skew, but perhaps still towards the "violent" end (because some people may not see non-violent offenders as truly criminals).

I hate writing questions for surveys/polls. You have to double think everything.

I don't have time this morning to dig into it but I think here is their website:

http://harvardharrispoll.com/

I've seen some articles questioning the methodology for some of their prior polls, but again I don't have time to fully investigate enough to give my own opinion.

Or maybe just that many folks are in favor of people, all people following the law.  We all know that immigration is a hot topic, and in my opinion, many people would be in favor of reporting all illegal immigrants due to them breaking the law if it leads to the apprehension of the small percentage of them that are even worse criminals.

That being said, certainly poll questions can be misleading and skew results, and generally most polls should be taken with a grain of salt.  There is one big difference here though and that was the results of the poll that actually mattered back in 2016.  The Dems running this year need to realize that Trump won not because of the Russians, but primarily because he hammered illegal immigration.  If they keep leaning toward open boarders, we may have a fairly rare occurrence in November where the president’s party picks up more seats in Congress.
