How does Embassy contact you?

Hi everyone, my fiance and I recently had our case number processed by the NVC and they've sent my case onto the Johannesburg US embassy here in South Africa.

In the message attached in the email it says the embassy will contact me when they are ready to process my visa. My wonder is, how exactly do they contact me? I don't remember filling in my email or phone number anywhere.

Thank you in advance

The embassy will write to you generally. It will take a couple weeks from the case being sent to them.

I have no clue about South Africa, but the ones I am familiar with will never contact you.  Once it gets to NVC then it's up to you to take it from there.

Go to the Regional Section and find South Africa and ask the question there, you will get a correct answer

Just when you think you have TDS eradicate,  a new case shows up.

The petitioner filled in some contact details. We got an email from them 2 weeks after they got our petition at the Johannesburg Consulate. The same email that they notified you of your petition being sent to Jozzi is the same the US Consulate in Sandton will notify you at. They will send no letter to your house...

My interview in Johannesburg is July 26th...Any more questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks very much.

I do actually have another question regarding police clearance. Did you just apply for a regular police clearance certificate? Or do I need a special apostilled one?

Hi again, It is the normal police clearance that SAPS issue to everyone in SA that covers this purpose there is not special one. It just has to be valid on the day of your interview. And it is valid for 6 months from date of issuance.

I just have a little confusion around the order of events here.

So my fiance (US petitioner) got the an email last week telling us that our case had arrived at the US embassy in JHB. We have gathered all of the necessary documents and I am trying to figure out now how to book my interview.

Am I to understand that I can't book my interview until I receive my packet 3 from the embassy?

Thank you and good luck for your interview tomorrow

If that email has an attachment of every documents to gather prior to interview then that’s your packet 3 and it should also have the website to register and make your booking...

Packets 3 and 4 are communications from the embassy/consulate to the beneficiary after the petition is approved.

Some embassies and consulates don't have a packet 4 (I think that's true for Moscow, but I'm not sure).

Every embassy/consulate is different for these, though there are some things that almost everyone asks for (affidavit of support, visa application).

I don't know off the top of my head what Moscow asks for, though we'll need to know that eventually (my fiancee is Russian, too, though our timeline suggests our petition probably won't be in Moscow until next year).
