Progressive then, outdated now.

The grief is actually over the fact that you can't admit you made a mistake here. I know that is part of your personality on these forums, so it's not surprising. I just figured maybe this one, since it is so blatantly obvious, would see you cave a bit.

As I told you already, just prior to me posting that link here, I pointed out to a friend who posted the poll on FB that it was old.  And could therefore include nothing about Trump (though his personal message was that Trump was more popular than Obama, a clearly false narrative).

Whether you were misled by the date of the poll or knew right away it was old is up to you.  I knew what the date was.  It’s clearly in the link itself, as well as the page that pulls up.  I’d highlight it for ya, except I am on an ipad and cannot do that.

Your derision as to the date of the poll aside, it did what I intended... got your attention.  Sorry it’s not as current as you might like.  Next time I will try to find a poll from 1865.

I'll make a correction:

"Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons."

Slave were counted as 3/5's of a person. Not black people.

Still outdated.

Still incorrect.  3 out of 5 slaves were allowed to vote, to keep slave owners from gaining a large political advantage in elections.  If 5/5 slaves had been allowed to vote, then democrats would have had a huge advantage, because obviously the slaves they owned would have been forced to vote THEIR way.  So to compromise, only 3 out of every 5 were counted.

It seems Americans are smelling the coffee, now that it’s too late...

Please explain to me how this sentence is talking about 2012.

Seems

Are

Now

Is

Every verb is present tense. I'd rather it be an honest mistake than show you have such horrendous writing skills that you don't understand the difference between past and present. The entire sentence was consistently in the present tense. It wasn't even one verb tense error. It was consistent through your whole message.

None of the slaves were allowed to vote.

3 out of 5 slaves were COUNTED as towards the population in order to add up the number of representatives. It was never about allowing any of them to vote.

Either way - It is outdated.

Ok, counted as population, not actually voting.

Outdated, yes.  Never argued that point.  That’s why it went away roughly 150 years ago.  Not sure why it was even brought up here.  It’s old news, and will never be a factor again.

The electoral college I think is where this started?  Now that is enduring.  But still a choice we make today.

Great. Tell that to B&K, who did question whether parts of the constitution are outdated.

Correction - I meant 2014.

Either way. Still in the past. Still DEFINITELY not written as if the writer is aware that it is in the past. So either someone needs to learn about past and present tense, or it was a simple, honest mistake.

My friend, President Trump is losing money every day he is in office.  You do realize he has donate 100% of his salary, right?  He doesn’t need any more money.

Egotistical jerk, I can get behind that 100%.  Then again, I think that comes with the office.  Obama became one too (can’t say he was one prior, didn’t really know much about him before 2008).  But yes, Trump was one even before he was elected by we the people.

Isn’t it amazing, that even 200 years ago, our founding fathers had the foresight to prevent unfair elections? Pretty smart, if you ask me.

As for racist... is that why he received the Ellis Island award?  Not buying it.

Donating a salary of 400k while his family and friends directly benefit from the lower overall taxes and the leasing of his building for government purposes.

Trump has a long history of discriminatory business practices. His father may or may not have been in the kkk. Plus he literally lead an anti-obama movement with the premise that Obama is an "African Muslim".

So let me reiterate that last point...

Instead of using Obama's policy ( like any decent human being)... trump went straight to ethnicity and religion to brew up hatred.

I posted it because so many in this forum (left-leaning) seem to just adore polls.  Personally, I think polls are of almost zero value.  Why?  Because I have never been asked to participate in one in my lifetime.  And when I ask those around me, no one ever has either.  So WHO is taking these polls?  Who is answering the questions?  Is the polled group truly random, or do they fit a specific demographic?

If memory serves me correctly, my family used to get some of those “cold calls” way back in the 60’s and 70’s.  Perhaps with the advent of cell phones, that is less common today.  But still the fact remains that MY vote has never been cast, which I find unusual, given my age.  Makes me suspicious of the methods being used.  And the sample groups.  And... well, everything about the polls that aren’t published.

As for the snopes.com link above, and with no offense meant towards any members here, but if anyone is still using snopes, they should probably re-think their methods for fact checking.  I know I only post a snopes “fact check” if two or more OTHER sources corroborate it; and even then, I tend to quote one of the other sources.

For those not in the know, the family of snopes is getting a divorce, and there are court-ordered gag orders in effect.  Now why would that be, if snopes was a bastion of truth and honesty?  Here’s but one snippet of one article on the matter:

From a pretty reliable source: https://www.forbes.com/sites/kalevleetaru/2016/12/22/the-daily-mail-snopes-story-and-fact-checking-the-fact-checkers/#423910e6227f

I don't like snopes.com either and that is why I backed their info up with the source they mentioned which is from the website of the people actually making and publishing the poll. I should probably have left the snopes.com link out but they did mention they whole thing about people spreading that poll now even though it is old. Thank you for confirming my suspicion that it wasn't that legit.

And to partially answer your question as to who is doing these polls... I can't answer for all of them but I do know one website called yougov.com (which sucks by the way) that some media is referring to now and then. The basic idea is great, a bunch of people (both republicans, democrats and everything in between) sign on and get paid to give their opinion on political stuff that is going. But basically you redeem your money,  try to get up to the redemption limit again and ask for another one and it doesn't matter how many times you contact customer service you'll never see any more gift cards or money.

Actually, I did not question the US Constitution.  K&A inferred that in my opinion and I was simply asking for clarification.  Certainly the USC was changed appropriately 17 times (the first 10 amendments were added to gain adoption in the first place), and in my opinion with the possible exception of the 3rd Amendment the USC is timeless in its current form.  Would I like to see a few additions such as term limits, possibly, but I am fine with how it limits the Federal government.
