Travel outside US last 5 years

VJers,

This is kind of a rough question for us.  So on the n400 it asks to list all travels outside of the US in the past 5 years.    Is this question based on being an LPR ?  (doing LPR for the past 3 years only not 5 years).  The problem with this question is that in our situation we're a flight attendant who previously have landed/departed from the US the last 7 years,, so would we list all those travels in the last 5 years? or just during the 3 years of being an LPR?

thank you!

We feel like this question is gearing towards how long we may have stayed outside of the US, in out situation this could really mess things up because we didn't travel more than 40 days out of the US in the past 3 years.  But if I was to count the visitor departure and arrivial prior to that it would actually look like we lived outside the US for quite a long time,  Kind of tricky here...

hi

correct, it's since you've been a LPR,

if you are applying under the 3 year rule, then it's 3 years and not 5.

immigration wants to know if you qualify for citizenship based on physical presence, if you've lived long enough in the US for citizenship.

thank you so much aleful! it would be weird if we included all the visits to the US. those would have been the opposite of the form.  instead of when you departed and arrive, it would've been when we arrive and when we departed from US

thank you again!

If you are doing the N400 online, there is a check built in the system which will prompt you if your travel history is incomplete based on your criteria! So fill the n400 online if you are not already doing it!

very cool, thanks for that info - yes we're using the online form right now - didn't realize that it has a built in check.
