Sex education is usually taught in 5th grade/elementary school with parents permission. Boys and girls are talked to separately, of course, usually by the Physical Education teacher or guidance counselor. Parents have to sign permission papers. Sometimes kids still won't ask questions.

Dear Abby,

If Gary Spivey is supposedly "psychic" Why would he wear those those freaky wigs? Wouldn't he know that wearing them scares people?

Yours Truly,

 It IS bizarre to say the least. I can't figure the guy out - except that I think he's a shyster. The only thing I can think of regarding the bizarre wigs is that without it, he's just a regular fat guy trying to make money off of suckers.

When I was a kid my parents bought me a set of books that went over everything and said if I had any questions fire away. When we had sex ed in 7th grade they gave us a pre-test, I got 100%. :)

I think that's what we'll do for our son. A lot easier and less awkward since you don't have to explain the whole thing.

The "Life Cycle Library", I'm guessing. That's what I was given when I was 10.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

I completely agree. I'm pro-sex ed not only in school but in the home as well. Parents should never be afraid to be open and honest with their kids about sex. I've had the "talk" with my sons (9 and 11). I'm very open (age appropriate of course) with them and they know they can always come to me with any questions about sex without fear or embarrasment. I'd rather them learn about it from me than their friends.

#1 reason to be pro-sex education: so your daughter doesn't learn about sex from her teenaged boyfriend.

I personally feel and strongly believe that the things of life and family and God should be taught honestly and fully in the HOME, and leave teaching reading-writing-'ritmetic-science to the schools taht we choose to send our children to. When I become a father, I don't want OUR children to learn about sex in school, from their peers, TV/movies/media, or in the back of some dweeb's car! My Mom kinda tried to have the talk with me when I was in high school, but I left with more questions than answers, because I didn't sense she was confortable talking about it with me; so I didn't ask questions. Dad never talked with me about it. I learned what little I know about it 1) from encyclopedias, 2) how-to web sites/articles (not porn #######!), and 3) school. Even in school, I didn't understand the attraction/point of it. I was still aloof. I had been wrongly told by Mom when I was in elementary school that it was done by the man putting it in there and then peeing in the girl's pee hole. I held onto that misconception/bad information till I was a senior in high school, when I wanted to know how it worked, and I sought out books/web sites, where I finally learned where it goes and what it does. How sad is that? Yeah, in sex ed you learn about condoms and birth control/abstinence and perhaps what goes on after fertilization, but "how to" is important to know, too. Maybe they assume the students already know how or have already engaged in it, I don't know. If they teach abstinence, what on earth should I abstain from exactly? I didn't even know how I'm supposed to do what I'm supposed to abstain from!!! Maybe I was just overprotected when I was younger, I dunno.
