Can not find AR11 confirmation number or print out

We did file online AR11 - change of address and I believe we received an email confirmation with COA but somehow I cant find it..

 

neither I can find pdf file I think I saved.

 

Do we really need AR11 or it is just for their records?

 

AR11 can serve as a proof of 3 months residency in a particular district before we can file from that district?

It doesn't serve as proof of 3 months residency, sorry.  What serves as proof of residency is health insurance, State ID or drivers' license showing address, utility bills, bank accounts, tax returns, etc.

 

Other than it being a legal requirement by USCIS as a GC-holder, the AR-11 ensures USCIS has your correct address to mail stuff to (which of course is a good thing).

To prove residency?  On its own, no it's not enough as a bank account can be accessed from almost anywhere around the world---they'll expect something a *bit* more than just a bank account if you wish to prove physical residency in a particular district, like the stuff I mentioned above.

 

When it comes to residency---An IO looks at the totality of evidence provided. One piece of evidence doesn't really prove something.  Several pieces outlining the same thing you're trying to prove (ie. residency) holds much more water.  And, as I mentioned, bank accounts can be accessed from anywhere---doesn't prove someone is living in the same district as where their bank is.   I have active bank accounts in the UK and Canada and the Caribbean...but I live in the US.  

 

 Utility bills or a lease are good ways in proving physical residency for at least 3 months, along with tax return info.

 

Also depends on whether you're applying under the 5-year residency rule, or the 3-year marriage rule as to how effective your proof of residency needs to be, in the long run.

There's no way to get a physical copy of it----but you can always phone USCIS and confirm they have your correct mailing address on file.

 

Or check the deleted emails in your trash folder...you may be able to recover it from there depending on how your email is set up.
