Just wondering if anyone that has cases processing in Nicaragua has received any approvals lately and how long it has been taking? We are hearing that the sole consular officer working is trying to "wrap things up" to be able to leave the consulate. Sounds like no one will be working on cases soon. Hoping they will complete what they have but no definite answers from the consulate when inquiring about time frames for processing or what will happen in the event they completely close the consulate.

My fiance was approved early Monday morning on July 2nd! But it seems we've celebrated too soon. Everyone told us it would just take a couple days to pick up the passport but about 10 days later and it is still sitting at the embassy.... has anyone else had this problem or has anyone else had to wait longer? We both just want to get out of here before the situation worsens more than it already has.

No, we weren't approved at the interview. My husband didn't have the correct police certificate. We had one from Managua but they wanted one from his home town. We submitted it the next day and confirmed it was received by the consulate. We have been waiting since. Since they were closed July4-6 it probably has them behind. Try not to worry too much. It's so hard to go through this! We are not doing a K1 visa. We have been married for 16+years with kids and grandkids and my husband's absence is heartbreaking to all of us. This entire process is difficult no matter which visa you're applying for. People have no idea unless they live it and the fact that they never communicate with you in plain language or give you any information to help you understand what is going on make this so much more difficult. I pray all will be well with you and yours!

Wow! 16 years! Well first, congratulations, and second I am truly sorry that you all are suffering through this. It's awful and of course if the wait itself isn't bad enough, the dangers that accompany it are far worse. I have only been with my fiancé for 2 and a half years. I can only begin to imagine what you must be going through. Fingers crossed for the both of us that this will all work itself out soon.

By the way, that is one of my biggest frustrations as well- the communication. I don't understand why it is so difficult to say, yes we are experiencing delays right now and your case will most likely take X amount of time to process. Instead I have just received the same old "Please continue to check the status of your passport online. Until the status changes, please be patient".

Hi, i am wondering how it's end because a year later we are in the same situation like yours. He had the police certificate from Managua but they need it from his city. Almost two month later he still in administrative processing. How long took yours husband passport to be issued??

Hello, just wondering if anyone else has any input about the Managua Consulate.

My husband went in for his interview on April 3rd, the interview went well but he also had to re-submit his police certificate because he got his from Managua instead of his home town. The interviewer said once they had all needed documents it shouldnt take more than a few weeks to have the visa issued. He  submitted it the next day and we confirmed they received it. Since then the case has only been updated once, which was when a congressional inquiry was sent out from my state to check on status of case to which they just gave the same answer of.. it is still in processing and we will be notified once everything is done. We are going on 3 months now with no updates whatsoever. Im really hoping something changes or at least updates soon. We have a daughter who is turning 2 next month as well & we are celebrating our 3rd anniversary in the same week, I'm praying that he'll be able to make it but it seems unlikely. I hope that things start to pick up and move for everyone else as well. God bless!

Rather stale thread with new inquiries is moved from the Embassy/Consulate forum to the Mexico/Latin/South America regional forum in hopes of a higher concentration of respondents.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

When you say he needed a police record from his “hometown”, are you saying that he is currently living in his hometown? In other words, is the problem that he got his police record from Managua even though he currently lives in another city?

My fiance currently lives in Managua, and just got her police record from a local office there, but seeing these posts makes me wonder whether she should make a trip to Bluefields (her hometown) and get a record from there also. Can anyone please clarify?

My husband needed one from his hometown where he lived before coming to the US to live. We initially got one from Managua only bc his brother had to get him a record for us while we awaited state side for his appointment in Nicaragua. They wouldn’t allow his brother to get a copy of his police record in his hometown and said bc my husband wasn’t present to request it himself his brother would have to go to get it in Managua for some crazy reason.

His brother never told us there was a reason he got that police record in Managua so when we got to his appointment we were then told he needed a record from Esteli since he was now in the country to get it himself. I hope this makes some sense. If I were you I would get it from her hometown if she has lived there to be on the safe side. Best wishes!
