Sarah Sanders says she was thrown out of Virginia restaurant because she works for Trump

I read a different article that interviewed the owner.

Apparently she was called in when staff were seating Sanders. She asked the staff their opinion and the consensus was to ask Sanders to leave. I believe it was around the fact that they live in a small town and she was concerned that Sanders would hurt her business.

She then asked Sanders quietly, alone. Sanders offered to pay for what they had already eaten, but the owner declined. Sanders left.

Seems like it went as smoothly as it could. As others have said, there is no law saying you have to serve everyone. Particularly political affilitation. My guess is the owner would also refuse to serve openly neo-nazi individuals.

I really don't care. Political ideology is a choice. So I feel less bad when people also choose not to serve you.

Apparently her gay staff felt uncomfortable serving someone who had supported a ban on transsexual people in the Army. I am against the ban but I still respect other people's opinions...

"Several Red Hen employees are gay, she said. They knew Sanders had defended Trump’s desire to bar transgender people from the military. This month, they had all watched her evade questions and defend a Trump policy that caused migrant children to be separated from their parents.

“Tell me what you want me to do. I can ask her to leave,” Wilkinson told her staff, she said. “They said ‘yes.’ ”"

I think Sarah handled it very well though as she didn't make a big deal out of it and just left. It kind of sounds like this wouldn't even have reached the media if it wasn't for the fact that some of the staff was tweeting about kicking her out.

I've brought this up a few times since Trump was elected, but I don't think the left ever claimed to tolerate jackasses.  Ultimately, if you support a business owners right to deny service for any reason, then you can't really get upset when they deny service for a stupid reason.

I have a hunch if this article had been about Colin Kaepernick getting denied service at Firehouse subs, the MDR would be saying he got what he deserved. The same holds true for Sarah Sanders then. If you support it, don't try to turn it around on the left. You got what you wanted. Be happy.

Being tolerant means being tolerant to all, otherwise it is just plain discrimination. Everyone discriminates everyday every time they make a choice, based on what I am hearing, it is only the Left that claims outright to being completely tolerant.

If it was Kaepernick, it would be the same thing, the restaurant owner could refuse to serve him and face whatever consequences forthcoming.

No, you're not confused. It's not the same. But since they often have a lack of support in society all LGBTQ support each other.

That is what is confusing to me, some of the programs that may help transgenders may hinder gays, and I am still not really sure how bi-sexuals fit into the entire alphabet soup.  To me it really seems that only the activists of those communities that try to mix everything together.

My point was, if it was Kaepernick, the MDR likely wouldn't be complaining about the intolerant restaurant owner, they would be talking about how Kaepernick got what he deserved. I don't think the left ever made a claim to being completely tolerant. Don't know where you actually got that one. A principle of the left is not to tolerate bigots, and it looks like that's what happened here. Sanders took a position that upset some people and that was the consequence of it. Happens all the time IRL.

Thanks for clarifying. Nice to have the whole story. Or at least more of the story.

It's not alphabet soup... What program that helps transgenders may hinder gays? Bisexuals fit into the LGBTQ because they either fall in love with someone of the opposite or the same sex. I don't understand your last sentence... People who are gay, lesbian, bisexual transgendered or ####### are not "activists", they're human beings who just doesn't follow our norms that for some stupid reason say we should go with someone of the opposite sex and reproduce whether we want it or not.

Proves my point.  I am clearly driving on the right side of the road, and I could not care less what this restaurant owner did, that is called freedom.  However, I am told daily by the leftist media, and the leftist politicians that I am an intolerant deplorable.

The restaurant owner was not intolerant. She didn't want to bring politics into her restaurant but she also didn't want her staff to feel uncomfortable. She did what her staff wanted her to do.

Well, a program that allows a transgendered male to compete as a female, can certainly hinder lesbian females also competing.  Maybe the rules should be modified to allow the genetic females, lesbian or not, take PEDs to even the competition.

As to bi-sexuals, it is my understanding that they may be in a relationship with either gender, so if they are in a homosexual relationship, then they are gay, but if they are in a heterosexual relationship, then they are straight, so why does it need a separate identification.

Not really sure how allowing Sanders and her party to eat there would have brought politics into the restaurant.  If nothing was done, it would have been a non-story, but now that the owner themselves injected politics into it, they have to face the consequences.

My point was more general in response to Bill. I don't know where anyone would ever get the reasoning that the left tolerates everything. I don't tolerate bigots, racists, bullies. Several things I can think of.

Oh boy... So a transgender male is actually someone who was born female and is now male so no, he would not be able to compete with female. A transgender woman was born a woman and is now a man and she would definetely be able to compete with women and it would not hinder gay women to compete. If you read up on the effects of hormone treatment you would see it would not be an issue as muscles and fat distribution changes in the body depending on if you're becoming male or female. It's kind of like going through puperty.

If you are bisexual you're identity doesn't change because you are in a same-sex or opposite sex relationship. If a bisexual man is with a man he is still bisexual. If a bisexual man is with a woman he is still bisexual.
