Despite what many people think most people on this forum are quite reasonable and moderate. Not sure anyone here would support following a family from one place to another to publicly protest and harass them. So not sure any of us will have the answer to your question.

I generally have no problem with it when it is directly at a "vague" group (protests against Trump and his supporters, or protests against Clinton and her supporters, etc...).  

 

As I said before, the best I can describe it as is ignorant. Sarah Sanders apparently went home, so the person they wanted to protest and harass wasn't even there.

I recall at a GA/FL game. Some Fl Gators are some of the most vile jean short wearing, mullet headed sub humans on the planet. 

 

They were reaching over a fence taunting GA fans and making arm gestures. One connected with the top of my wifes head. Not hard, but still. I pulled him over the fence, much to the shock of his buddies and gave him an education on crossing into strangers personal space he will never forget.

I agree, since we now have more to the story, then I for one hope the Red Hen goes out of business and the employees lose their jobs over this.

The feelings that define your sexual orientation have to be enduring. If you truly have enduring feelings that go "back and forth" between men and women you are probably bisexual. So much more goes into attraction (a heterosexual isn't attracted to every single person of the opposite sex) that you can't just say "oh now I'm no longer interested in men". I’m going to say this about our convo, and then I am going to drop it.  I am not trying to convince you to see it my way, and I am not saying your thoughts on the matter are totally wrong.  You are a doctor, so of course you tend to want to believe doctorish explanations and articles.  But guess what... even psych docs are wrong from time to time (I’m sure you know this better than all of us, even if you are are not willing to admit id publicly.

The goal posts have changed a lot over the years when it comes to differing opinions on such subjects.  Being gay used to be “weird” or “unnatural”, or “wrong”, and now it is accepted.  That’s probably a good thing.  But psych docs (vis-a-vis your links) trying to tell us we don’t have a choice... believe it if you will.  I refuse to, because I have seen people change.  And not in just one direction, either.  And yes, I can control whom I have feelings for, by virtue of acting on those feelings or suppressing them.  And there are varying levels of attraction, among all orientations.  You believe there is no choice, and it is enduring.  I have no issue with that.  I believe it can change, and have witnessed it doing so, so you cannot convince me your belief (not facts, as you try to expound by your “expert” links) is more correct than mine.  Let’s just agree to disagree, eh?

 

As a non-sexual example, in my life, I have seen eggs being good for us to eat, then bad, then just the yolks are bad, then eggs are good for us.  All of this info was published by “experts” at varying points in time.  If you avoid eggs, good for you.  It’s your choice.  If you avoid men (assuming you prefer women, since you have a wife), good for you, it’s your choice.  If you ever want to “experiment” with a man to see if it’s for you, good for you, it’s your choice.  You can also choose to stop loving your wife and divorce her.  Again, your choice.

Acting on feelings or "suppressing" the feelings isn't actually controlling the feelings. It is controlling what you do with them. The data on "change therapy" has not shown that one is able to actually change their feelings in any enduring way. They can just minimize their actions, and help them "self-identify" with another group. That doesn't change what they actually feel, just how they act in response.

 

That is essentially the whole point of this discussion. We control we choose to do, but we can't control who we really are. Those can be aligned, or unfortunately misaligned. 

 

As I said from the beginning, you can define something however you like and say we have control or choice in the matter. Just don't call it sexual orientation, because that is a term that has a definition and it doesn't fit with what you are trying to explain.

That’s the way it SHOULD work, right?  If a business doesn’t give what the majority of it’s customers want, they fail.

 

It’s been a couple of years for the baker and the gay customers who (now, quite obviously) singled him out to make a case, and the baker “won”.  But at what cost to him or his business?  I feel bad for him, what he had to go thru and endure.  However, had he gone out of business due to lack of customers, I would not have felt bad at all.  

As for the “stalking” thing where the red hen folks followed the family to another restaurant... I wish the family had called the cops and pressed charges, though I guess they technically did nothing the cops could actually get involved for.

Man, if I had a dollar for every time one of y'all said you were "done talking about it" or "dropping this topic", but then continued to go on and on for pages about it.... I could afford to bribe VJ mods to make me a mod for 5 seconds just so I could shut this thread down, so we can restart a new back-on-topic thread.  (kidding.......mostly)

 

 

To the original topic - did I read restaurant workers followed her/her family after leaving?? So the respect I had for both sides/parties with how that whole thing went down is kind of washed out now.  If she left quietly and without ill event, what was the purpose of that? It totally negates their "good" standing of how it was handled. Why handle something with class if you're going to wrap it up with bad behavior?
