QUESTIONS FOR ANYONE WITH S.O. FROM MOROCCO

HELLO EVERYONE,

I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE WHO HAS GONE THROUGH MOROCCO COULD ANSWER SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT WHAT ITEMS ARE NECESSARY TO SEND BACK WITH THE DS230. WILL HE NEED A POLICE REPORT AND BIRTH CERTIFICATE, AND IF SO WILL THEY NEED TO BE TRANSLATED INTO ENGLISH ? ARE THERE ANY OTHER ITEMS THAT NEED TO BE SENT?

ALSO I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT TAKING MONEY OUT OF MOROCCO. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW MUCH THEY WILL ALLOW SOMEONE TO TAKE WHEN THEY ARE IMMIGRATING TO ANOTHER COUNTRY?

ANY WISDOM WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

My SO came through Jordan and we never dealt with a DS230 so I can't help you there but I do know that you are allowed to enter the U.S. with $9,999.00 USD without having to report it on your customs paperwork or claiming antyhing. But anything over $10,000 you have to aknowledge on your customs paperwork when you land and it gets reported to the IRS and they could possibly try to come after you for taxes or at least start a file on you and keep an eye on you - not something you really want. So my suggestioni s keep it under $10,000 and you shouldbn't have any problems. I've heard rumors about that amount being lowered to $8,000 but my SO came in two weeks ago and the amount was still at $10,000. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your input. I'm just wondering if it works the same with moroccan currency. I know they are fanatics about keeping dirhams in Morocco. Was your husband allowed to change the currency in Jordan into American dollars before he left the country or did he do it at the P.O.E.?

i think you're supposed to change the money before you leave....to leave the dirhams in morocco. but maybe someone else can solidify this answer with proof.
