Hey all,

Just a quick question, my fiance has his medical tomorrow at London. I just wanted to know to be safe, do they take credit/debit cards there? I would assume they do, but I don't know if they take his kind like just Visa or Mastercard for example? I wanted to make sure he knew if he needed to get cash out of the machine or something.

I'm probably just being paranoid! haha..

They also take debit cards -- I forgot to get out the full £200 in cash so I paid £100 in cash and £100 on my Switch card. No problem. In fact, the only thing they were speedy about on the day of the medical (this past Tuesday the 8th) was taking our money!!!

Hard cash is the only currency your almost assured is accepted everywhere, unless your using Scottish money in England..

The way I see it, my money is safer on me than it is at the bank so I pay for almost everything in cash, but yes visa mastercard work fine, however I'm not sure if these 'electron' cards work or not.

Edited by Oath

Slightly different question here but along the similar lines - paying for the visa interview - can we pay them on the day? As last year when i first started the process they gave me a payment slip to take in to a bank and pay - but as we had put our case on hold i did nothing with it and now they gave me an interview date with the pack of instuctions and no payment slip - has this been changed now? Can I just turn up at the embassy and my money there cash?

London embassy payment (at least for k3) was made on the day to a cashier at the embassy, I paid cash but I believe you can pay by card as well.

But the railway sucks

Oh yes afte having worked for them for 41/2 years I would have to agree with you on that.

Ditto...I've worked for the railways pension people for 4 years now. Suckage, yup, we're good at that!

Maestro is the new-ish name for Switch, so yes, they'll take it as they took mine.
