If things were/are not clear, cancel the petition. It's a waste of time for them and for others who are actually waiting to be processed and interviewed if you just let it expire.

I know it might do nothing here but when I was waiting on my K1, I kept seeing people saying how in the middle of it they would not appear to the interview or they would just let the visa process keep its process and then when it arrives to the embassy call it good and let it expire. To anyone who might think about doing that, DON'T DO THAT! There's people who is sure of what they want and a lot of times we have to wait longer because of people who does not cancel it and give space for other applications to be checked and go through faster.

Thanks for your reply.

This is very helpful in fact, I had no idea processing other visas depended on the number of applications received, that changes everything.

Just for the record: the fact that it didn’t work out didn’t mean things were not clear, just complicated, we were together for over 15 years, and as much as we both wanted it to work, other circumstances got in the way, so thank you for the advice, I don’t think anyone in this thread is intentionally blocking the process for anyone else, but simply trying to figure things out for their own particular circumstances.

But thanks again for helping clarifying that,  we’ll get that going and hopefully done by next week.
