can he change his green card holder to a citizen? Thank you 😇

Yes - he can. Depending on how he came to the US, it's 3 or 5 years from the date his first green card was produced. Given his timeline, it won't make a difference in your case - he'll be eligible after you're already here.

he is petitioned by his father U.S. Citizen .. if we get married this year 2018 then he returns to alaska and process my papers / petitions for 2 years or 2020 for processing?

Does it not affect his application as a green card holder when he applied for a citizen after 5 years?

Thank you very much for sharing 😇😇

He can file for you as soon as you are married.  It takes about 2 years.  If he files in 2018, then you are looking at 2020 or 2021.  Filing for you does not affect him applying for US citizenship.

Did he get his green card before age 18?  Has he been a green card holder for 5 years?

Thanks for the info. Him getting the green card via his father is good...if it had been from a recent marriage, then it could have presented some hurdles. But there's no issue here.

Around 2020 seems about right based on current timelines. Timelines are subject to change.

Him petitioning you would not be an issue for his naturalization application. If he naturalizes while your case is pending, the petition can be upgraded to an immediate relative category, which would shorten the timeline to getting a visa.

Priority Date. It's basically your spot in line to get an immigrant visa. Visas for the spouse of a green card holder are limited each year, so you need to wait in line.

No, only if he got the green card from another marriage within the past 5 years.

Even if that had been the case, he could marry anytime...he just couldn't petition you for a visa until that 5 years is up (without overcoming a very high bar).

Thankyou very much for helping and ideas, really apprecited .. Godbless 😇
